When I hard wire the Ethernet to it, it works fine. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks so much in advance!

So I had the same issue. When I first connected the UWF-1 USB I was able to get a single strength around 35% but no connection to the sites. So I decided to give the firmware update a try, that went well and my signal strength shot up to 50% + but then I got got the connection error message. So I restarted this and unplugged that no luck. So as a last ditch before sending it back I re-entered my WEP connection information using channel 1
clicked ok and now everythings working.

So long and short, if you connected with the USB before doing the firmware update re-enter your connection information after the firmware update has completed and receiver has restarted.

Does the RC370 suffer from the same recall that the RC270 and other Onkyo models had?
I can get the HT-RC360 for a really good price as an upgrade to my current TX-SR706B.
Just looking for good reasons to upgrade.
Any reason for not upgrading?

3d support, 4k upscaling and component to HDMI convert/upscaling are about the only things I see after a quick scan. If you don't need any of those......

I'm guessing the upscaling on the RC360 is better (at 1080P) then my 706B.

It's tempting me.
Still have 4 hours to decide.

Does the RC270 support 3D?

Google would know, but I wouldn't get a 270 based on the failure thread (it's one of the listed models with known issues).

Where is this list of models with known issues?
Search for this....

Onkyo RC270, NR708

I can't link on an iPad. It's called: The "OFFICIAL" Onkyo RC270, NR708.....failure thread

(a bunch of models are listed)

That's a damn good deal, I got mine for $500 here in canada about a month and a half ago. Awesome receiver upgraded from a Denon which I loved aswell but this onkyo had way more features.
Picked up this AV receiver yesterday, got the last one in the Roseville, CA store at about 1 PM. Upgrading from a Denon AVR-3802, without HDMI. Hard to beat the $249 price.

I just got the RC360. It's an eye-opener compared to my 10-year-old Onkyo TXDS787 in terms of features, despite more than 50% cheaper (thanks to Fry's sale).

One question: how does Audyssey 2EQ determine the volume level? I just did a quick calibration using 2EQ. It sets my front speakers to -4 and surround speakers to around -9. And the pink noise coming out is very faint. My SPL meter measures to only 68 db all around. Is this normal?

Interestingly, on NR609 which I had for two days (and returned due to internet streaming freeze issue), Audyssey 2EQ calibration in the same room brought front speakers to 0 and back to -4. And SPL meter measured to around 84 db - my ears could also tell it's much much louder.

I thought NR609 and RC360 are supposed to be almost the same. Why is there such drastically different result? Aren't calibration supposed to bring everything to 75db (at least according to the user manual)?

After you do a full calibration if you don't like the loudness, you can manually adjust every speaker + or - db. I set mine +10 all around and it sound amazing.

Thanks, I get that. The thing is that I use Audyssey dynamic EQ, which (as you know) dynamically adjusts subwoofer and surround speaker output based on the current volume level in comparison to the reference level. So I assume it's mandatory to set the correct reference level to begin with, otherwise dynamic EQ won't work as effectively. But what is the reference level for RC360? I suspect the reference level for non-THX receivers like RC360 vs THX receivers like NRx09 are different.

For now I'll just use my SPL meter to set all speakers to 75db and see how it performs.
Ah, I think I finally figured it out. The reason the pink noise generated by my RC360 was so low, is because I set my master volume too low! This is very different from my old Onkyo 787, where the pink noise is generated at fixed volume regardless what the master volume is.

According to the RC360 manual, "To achieve the same reference level in a home theater system each speaker level must be adjusted so that –30 dBFS band-limited (500 Hz to 2000 Hz) pink noise produces 75 dB sound pressure level at the listening position". In RC360, "-30 dBFS" is volume number 50 (since the max/full-scale is 80). So voila, all I need to do is to set master volume to 50, and then use SPL meter to level every speaker to 75 db. With this setup, my front speakers are eventually set to +2, and my surround speakers are -2.

Hope this helps.

Are you doing the Audyssey Quick Start or Audyssey 2EQ Full Calibration. I would strongly recommend you do the Audyssey 2EQ Full Calibration (chirps not pink noise) with three measurement positions. If you do this you really shouldn't need to adjust with an SPL meter.

I think you have to do the Audyssey 2EQ Full Calibration to set Audyssey Dynamic EQ - if you do both I think you will like it.

I did, in fact twice - went through all the tripod/three-position chores. Both times the result came out similar to quick start, except the left surround becomes much louder. According to SPL measure, it's 5 db louder than the right surround. When watching movie, this quickly becomes very annoying as the left surround dominates the sound field.

All in all, I'm not thrilled by Audyssey 2EQ system - maybe MultiEQ XT would be better, I don't know. But at this price ($250), I can hardly complain, and with an SPL meter (in fact, an iphone app) I can at least fix it.

Well that is interesting. When I run Audyssey 2EQ on my RC-360 I also get one of the surrounds set 3 - 4dB lower than the other see http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...2#post20858282

After running multiple times and checking mic positioning etc it always comes up with the 3 - 4 dB difference.

In the end I chalked it up to something quirky in my room dynamics and manually set the offending surround level to match the other surrounds. Sounds pretty good - but I now wonder if the RC-360 Audyssey 2EQ has a bug.

What are others seeing when they run Audyssey 2EQ on the RC-360?

I see it says the reference level offset should 0DB for movies, 10DB for TV content etc. I don't want to be changing this depending whether I am watching TV or a movie. I assume this is just an offset and so I just set the volume at the level which is conformable for the content.

Just seen this http://ask.audyssey.com/forums/84181/entries/73283.html

Sounds like you should really adjust the reference level offset depending on content.

Seems like a bit of a pain - I will probably play around with it - but I can't see myself (or family) changing the reference offset each time we switch from a movie to Tv etc

I am having an issue with my RC360. It is with the video output. I have a htpc hooked up to it using HDMI (from an nvidia 460). Everything worked perfectly when I connected the computer directly to the tv. Now I have the computer hooked to the avr and the avr hooked to the tv.

The picture starts off normal. But if I put a video in fullscreen then the output to the screen is shifted to the left by about an inch. Things on the far left are off the screen and there is a thin black bar on the right side. Even if I close the video the dektop is shifted left. If I turn off the tv and then turn it back on or change inputs then return on the avr it fixes it until I fullscreen a video again.

This is really annoying. Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it?
Do you have the video set to Direct on that input?
Picture mode is set to direct.

Yes it does I have a RC270 and haven't had any issues yet. If you are fearful about getting an AVR with issues then stay away from them all. There is a percentage of units that will always fail.

Does anyone else have the 360 connected to an htpc running windows 7 media center? Are you having this issue? Did I just get a broken one?
I have my HTPC connected to my RC-360- HDMI. I'm running Windows 7. I have no problems whatsoever. That is really odd, don't know if it's avr related but i would check the (Nvidia) settings on your computer to see if it resolves the issue first.
Edited:
I brought my other computer (has nvidia 470) to the TV and it had the same problem. I also switched in the 470 graphics card into the HTPC and had the same problem. I have no idea what is the problem. I have tried changing many of the settings in the nvidia control panel and also uninstalling the graphics driver and reinstalling. It is really strange. It works fine without the avr

Which hdmi input do you have it connected on your avr?

I picked up HT-RC360 yesterday and took about 2 hrs to unhooked and rehooked up the new receiver. This is my first TruHD/DTS-HD and I wanted to test it out, played a movie on ps3 with the latest firmware. Movies shows audio to be DTS-HD but on the receiver it self it only shows a dts or dolby icons. Is it suppose to show dts-HD or D+ True HD icons in red? No matter what movies play, i can't seem to get the icons to show. Please see pics below for examples. Do I have a faulty receiver?
