I noticed that they upgraded Amazon VOD. It now supports watchlists.

I just bought a store model of Sony KDL-60NX720, but it was missing a component video adapter. Normally, it comes with the TV. Does anyone of you know the P/N of that component video adapter so I can order one? If you guys also know where I can order one, that would be even better.

After the latest firmware update, the Sony Logo and sound no longer appear on starting the set.

I have the 46" NX720, and the reboots kill an otherwise great experience with this TV. Is there a fix? Has the cause of the reboots been isolated? I am using wired Ethernet with my set.

I know this thread is from last year but I recently just broke my 55NX720 placing back into the box when moving. The cardboard lifted the GG and cracked the entire screen. The glass on my unit is not lined up perfectly so any corner is extremely easy to catch and is not stuck down at all. I could brake the other corner with my finger nail. I am very disappoonted and have contacted Sony and they are going to send out a tech as it is only 6 months old.
Ill see what happens, but now that I know the weakness in design I can say that this is not a panel that can be moved unless you always keep the box (which I did) and even then it has a extremely high risk factor as there is no protection on all side of the unit for the extremely flimsy front glass.

It did it about six or seven times, and I thought that maybe I was getting a firmware upgrade. I was able to put my ear near the back of the set, and it was coming from t he power supply area (where the AC cord enters the set).

I'm wondering if the reboots are related to the power supply? I don't hear the relay clicking when the set reboots though. I know if I contact a tech, I won't be able to reproduce the problem when he arrives.

Don't know your click sound. But the reboot is probably a sw bug. Mine does that sometimes too.
Basically, I have to change a few channels right after the TV is turned on. See my previous posts
for details. Also, I saw a few other people having the same issue. When TV reboots, it turned
into black screen and then a "SONY" logo showed up. The pic will be interrupted for a few seconds.

You need to reset to factory setting. Only downside is you lose your settings so make a note of them. There are slighty different versions, if you have trouble contact Sony and they can walk you through it. Check out the discussion which explains it on the hx929 thread. Same procedure for the 720

I too have the reboot issue, but it has happened very few times, so I always thought it was a firmware update. I will be trying out the factory reset though to see if that solves it. Thank you for posting that in this thread.

Has anyone else experienced an issue, where one of your HDMI ports will receive the sound perfectly, but leave the video scrambled (like colored static)? It almost seems to me like the TV is not completing a copy protection handshake with the old DVD player I have hooked to that HDMI port. Of course this also only happens every once and again, and can be remedied by unplugging the hdmi cable and plugging it back in. I've already swapped the cable, but that didn't seem to do the trick.

I'm sure others have experienced that the TV is slow to respond to commands for about a minute after startup. Is there any trick to improve that? For instance turn off the automatic firmware update detection?

from what i've heard most smart tvs are slow to respond when first turned on. i've seen this happen with the current samsung smart tv's and others

I just noticed a black speck on my screen as I was cleaning it. It actually appears to be something between the front glass and display behind it, like a gnat. I thought it may be a dead pixel or two, put slightly pressing on the screen while cleaning it distorts around the black object. It is as if a gnat has somehow gotten in there. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the front glass to check?

Thanks, I was just curious if there were any tricks to speed the boot up time, like disabling some additional functions on startup to lighten the load on the processor.

I got this set for about $550 open item, loving it one of the most uniform Edge LED I have seen. The only thing I have noticed is some slight overdrive trailing if the brightness is less than 49-50 this is while gaming. Anything that may be turned on internally that may be causing this?

46 or 55? Either way its a steal and your a lucky man. I have yet to find a set this year that matches this one. Are u in game mode? I never notice this issue in the short time i had this set. I also kept my brightness at 50. If u can, adjust ur game brightness rather than the tv. Good luck and congrats. I wish i woulnt have returned my nx720 frown.gif

It is the 46" that is why I ended up buying this set. I have been really disappointed with 2012 televisions, started with the LG LM7600 (worst uniformity), Panasonic ST50( Image retention) and the Samsung E7000 (burn -in) after 4 hrs of normal use post 500hr break-in. When I saw the NX720 it was $842 and I haggled them down to $550 because it was lacking tabletop stand.

Super stoked finally made some adjustments in Cinema mode and custom that have alleviated any sign of overdrive trailing. If I go below 51 on the brightness they rear their head a bit, but it's manageable, fairly dark games like Deadspace are where they are apparent. I really like this set, pretty close to plasma black levels, but lacking a tiny bit in image depth.

Will try and post pics of the set with bias light and calibration tomorrow. This set has near perfect uniformity and no flashlighting or clouding that I can see. Love this thing.

I unboxed my TV yesterday and was happy with design and pic. Did the installation program and auto channel search. After all that I connected my Mac Mini via HDMI. I was happy but in my curiosity I changed it to 720, and BAM!!! The pic was gone and the message was back. If you are thinking "Why is he so stupid?" I'm asking my self the same quastion


So now I can't get anything from my computer. I have auto started it again, and reset to factory settings via the menu. Still nothing. Computer is restarted also.


Any ideas anyone?

Is there some way of restoring to the condition to the "in box" or "out of the box" condition?


Really frustrating so hoping for the best

I have the set for a few weeks and have noticed the overdrive trails are beginning to get worse. Film based content seems to be less apparent, but gaming the darker areas of the screen are beginning to leave a slow moving ghost image behind leaving a greenish smear. In bright environment it is not seen at all, but if playing a game like Deadspace or a game like Borderlands with the thick cell shaded lines it happens. Anyone have any experience or suggestions? I contacted Sony support and they asked what camera I was using to smear green shadows and what color temperature the TV was set on and had I made a HUE adjustment on the green side of the spectrum? I am now back at square one.

I have been having issues with black vertical line appearing on the screen occasionally and the smearing green haze continues. Contacted Sony customer care/service line and they told me that the TV had already had the main board replaced in September and that I was still under warranty from purchase date/registration of the set. I could expect a call from a service technician in 5-10 business days and would need to replace the main board once again and possibly the screen as well. I am worried with a screen replacement that the uniformity that this set has will be affected by the replacement. I am a rewardzone silver member through best buy, so I have 60 days to return. I am considering forgoing the service and just returning it and hoping for better luck next year. Any experience with Sony service/technical support?
