Internal. I've already had a tech out. He replaced both power boards. Didn't help. Still buzzing. TV was fine up until 2 weeks ago. Then began buzzing. Somehow the report got back to Sony that "you couldn't hear the buzzing" which is wrong because the tech said it was loud and Sony needed to replace it. I wonder if these local companies Sony sends out get paid more when they say they "fixed" it.

Hi All,

I have a 60nx720 that I bought last spring. I updated to the latest firmwares along the way. However, my TV reboots once in a while a few minutes after startup. After reading threads on this, I did the power reset that Sony says to do on their support site (unplug for at least 40 sec or so then plug back in and turn on) AS WELL AS the hard reset everyone is referring to. Yet, the TV still does the reboot once in a while.

Is this still happening to others even after doing the reset? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with using my harmony 650 remote.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I want to connect an andrdoid-on-a-stick android computer to my kdl46nx720. Some sticks require at least 1A of current from the USB port to work. Does anyone know the maximum current that the USB ports on this TV can provide?

I already contacted Sony live chat support, but their response is that only USB mass storage devices are supported, and they actually don't know what the maximum current is. Specifically, I was looking at the rikomagic mk802 IIIs.

Thanks!

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? My 55NX has just started buzzing too. It happens randomly for about 5 seconds at a time.

Thanks

Every since the last update, none of my internet video services work on my NX720. I keep on getting a network error
post #3366 of 3389
i dont have that problem that i know of, you could easily just unconnect to the net and reconnect, probably would work
post #3367 of 3389
Issue:

KDL55NX720

wifi loses connectivity and does not reconnect. I need to manually configure the wireless settings every time this happens (once a day).

I've tried doing a factory reset and downloaded all the necessary firmware updates and redownloaded the internet content several times.

This does not happen if the TV is connected using ethernet.

My mother says that she sees a "connectivity lost" message on the screen during the day.

==================
Does anyone else have issues maintaining a reliable wifi connection?

My parents have this TV and I am getting tired of trying to fix it.

We have a 3 year warranty. The first tech didnt really do anything, i think they just did what I always do. I am now getting involved with the repair depot and want to see if replacing the motherboard or the wifi device will resolve this.

It could also be comcast... but how can the television not recover the connection?

P.S.

It is not the signal strength

i dont have the issue i tried last night, no issues

i do remember when i first hooked up this tv it would NOT auto connect to my router, i had to put in the long number, whatever it is called, but havent had to do it since

i use my roku or my blu ray player for wifi, so you could get them a roku for $90 and solve the problem
post #3369 of 3389
A hard rest of the TV wouldnt fix the problem. Finally I reset the router & now all is good.

Hi All,

Just a new user on this forum.

I've got a Sony NX723 at the moment and have literally just scuffed the screen accidentally - small mark about half a centimetre. When the tv is off you can notice the mark as it's white. Has anyone had a problem like this and managed to repair or can anyone recommend best course of action? Its towards the bottom left of the screen and is noticeable when viewing...

Thanks very much for your help....

Thinking about picking one of these up again. Got it at sears outlet for 1199 for the 55" No shipping so Id have to drive quite a ways but I know from experience what a great set this is.
paid around $1820 for my 46 inch almost two years ago, so that is a good deal

I cant get over the fact that the plasma technology is vastly superior in both 3d and motion issues, whatever that is called

so if i get another tv i have to consider plasma

I have the Pioneer Elite 60 inch plasma that Sound & Vision said was the best picture on the planet, I think other than Runco or something...

It is not 3d but comparing motion issues to the Sony the Pioneer is almost perfect and most LCD that i have seen or owned are not

I did a little experimenting today with HDMI and component video into this display and I think I like component video better than HDMI. Has anyone else come up with the same conclusion? Unfortunately I can't use the component video because I need HDMI for TrueHD, SACD, etc..

Help! eek.gif Lost internet content, Pandora, Netflix, etc. Shows a error code 5007. Network diagnostics show "connected to internet", and my Sony DVD player has internet content, so I don't believe it's a router issue.
How do I do a "factory reset"?
Help...anyone have this issue and/or solution? Thanks!
My parents did. Unfortunately i never got around to fixing the problem and switched to wired.

Factory reset and update did not fix the issue. I would have limited internet connectivity sometimes.

I was going to have warranty change the motherboard but have not gotten around to it

Hello! Quick question.
I have the 55nx720 and I also have Time Warner Cable. Is there anyway to get PIP or P&P to work? It seems like the tv only supports it if its from two separate sources.
My cable box is connected to my TV through HDMI. Any thoughts?

Also in regards to the internet issues people have been talking about, mines on wifi with the latest update and I havent been experiencing any difficulties. However to be fair I don't use those features very often.

MAYBE.
As you surmised the PIP works with two distinct inputs. One source from the cable box (HDMI) will only ever tune THAT channel for output. If you want a separate source for PIP your choices are:
1) Add a splitter to your incoming cable (before the STB/DVR) and feed coax to the NX and use the TV's tuner to act as source #2 (keep in mind the TV will not tune in ALL the channels the box does, but let it scan to find as many as possible)
2) Add a second cable box to another input on the same TV
3) Use another secondary source into the tv (Terrestrial TV stations, if you get them in your area should work also)

ALSO...
Does your STB/DVR not have PIP built in already? Where in it uses the multi-tuner of the STB to display both sources via HDMI on one screen?

Hey all,

Has any one noticed a ghosting issue with the NX55720 when connected from a computer, and playing 3D SBS movies? All my 3d blu-ray movies have no ghosting/cross talk at all, however when i play movies from my macmini I have major ghosting/crosstalk issues. I was wondering if it might be an issue with having to use 3D SBS mode, rather than the TV finding a 3D signal, as it does with PS3 3d bluray moves?

The MacMIni is plugged directly into the TV via the HDMI 4 port, with the PS3 being plugged into the HDMI 1 port.

I've tried tinkering with the settings, but to no avail, it is driving me crazy.

Tried multiple 3d movies on the macmini with Bino and Plex, all yield the same poor results.

Thanks

----

Edit: I found a simple fix for this, turns out turning the TV to 'Auto' on the HDMI 4 input solved the problem. I also disabled overscan on the computer. Its still not perfect, but a hell of a lot better.

Hello,
tried searching this thread about this but didn't see what I was looking for. This is about wall mounting since my wife wants the small table back that the TV has been sitting on. From the spec that I find on online, the KDL-46NX720 says it has a VESA 300x300mm hole pitch. From what I understand from googling around, thi sis the height/width of the mounting holes on the back. But when I look at the back of the TV, the 4 mounting screws in the back are 12 (width) x 6 in (height) apart - or 300x150 mm

Am I misinterpreting what VESA hole pitch is? I went to Monoprice and searched using both 300x300 and 300x150 and it showed the same mounts. I just want to make sure I know the right details before ordering something. thanks
post #3382 of 3389
Most mounts available these days have more "universal" mounting capabilities. Monoprice is one of the few mount supplier's that asks for hole measurements, the others (Chief, Sanus, etc.) can usually recommend options just by inputting the TV model. That said, if you are getting the same recommendation for both dimensions, then that is usually an indication the mount has universal capabilities to some extent and you are probably safe with that mount. I do know that the Owner's Manual does indicate 300 x 300, as you already noted.

Hey all,

I have a KDL55NX720. The TV is about 1 year and 8 months old. (almost 2 years) I was watching a movie last night, and out of the blue the TV randomly turned off. It will not turn back on, unless I unplug it. Once powered back on, it will quickly turn back off within 5-10 seconds or so.

I'm getting 4 red LED blinks in the lower left corner. Any idea what this code might indicate?

Looks like something wrong with LCD panel mad.gif (Samsung most likely, BTW) - 4X* (reference under the chart).

Thanks for the info/reply. I also came across the exact same chart last night after finding the factory service manual for this model.

Looks like I'm out of luck, unless it could be a simple fuse or something within the LCD panel itself. I spoke to a local authorized Sony repair facility, and they said that Sony is pretty much never wrong when it comes to their documentation. :/

Might be time for a replacement - looking into the Samsung UNXXF7100 and Sony KDL55W802A.

Hi, question:

I lost my component adaptor (dongle), it looks like this: link
Anyone have an idea where to buy a new one? Mailed with Sony, but they just forward me to the store.. but they don't have it.

Thx

Can someone tell me where the USB port is located on the NX720?
I've got to charge my 3D glasses.
Or can I use the USB port on my computer to charge my glasses?

The second pair of holes for vesa mounting are hidden when the TV's table stand is attached. This means that the mounting holes for any 300x300 vesa compatible mount are there but they are quite low on the tv. Allow for this when fixing a bracket to the wall.
