OK - this is admittedly most likely a bad idea. Bad enough that the manufacturer specifically recommends NOT doing this.
So, I probably won't, but... We're getting an Ethan Allen entertainment center delivered on Saturday. It's this unit: http://www.ethanallen.com/product?pr...ategoryId=8022 .
On the "more details" page, they recommend only using a stationary mount. With our setup, we'll have a sectional facing the couch, so the seating on the side will be at an angle. In a perfect world, I think I'd like a swivel mount that could adjust to ensure that anyone on the side could see well.
I'm assuming that the extra leverage of a swivel mount would potentially be dangerous?
Any thoughts on doing this in an acceptable/safe way without risking damage to the TV, the entertainment center, or me?
(My "best" solution involves tracking down the studs in the plaster wall behind the entertainment center, screwing 2x4s into the studs directly behind the entertainment center, and then attaching the swivel mount through the video panel into the 2x4s. (Probably not the best solution.)
It's totally not a big deal - we'll probably be ok with the TV mounted with a stationary mount or just on the regular stand sitting on top of the base cabinet. But it sure would be cool if I could set up a swivel.
Thanks for your thoughts...
