Netflix nabs exclusive rights to stream Mad Men

Wonderful show. I found it a while back and my wife and I spinned through the discs in no time. I even streamed the latest season before it came out on disc. (via Amazon).

That is alot of ca$h (1 million per episode) to spend on one show. I hope this does not mean rates are going up. I watched Mad Men a couple of times. It seemed slow and boring to me. I never understood what all of the hype is about.

You have to sit tight through the first 3 or 4 episodes of Mad Men. Once they have laid the ground work, it starts to get very interesting. The final episode of season 1 has one of the best scenes I have ever seen on television.

On the subject of the streaming plan going up, it seems unlikely at the moment. Netflix stated on their last investor's call that they would not obtain content beyond their means. There was also a recent interview at Business Insider with the Netflix CEO where he said they wanted to focus on unlimited streaming for $7.99 (in response to a question about whether or not they would get into pay per view)

I guess that "means" less movies in HD, the way Netflix is overspending on TV shows.

Mad Men is a distant 3rd as far as AMC series go.
