When do you expect Yamaha to release a new RX-V6xx receiver?

I'm getting a Mythos 5.1 set next month and would love to snatch either a RX-V671 or TX-NR609 on sale.

On 2/12/2012, I posted...

There ain't nothing official yet? Is there a certain month the shops usually starting to sell the new stuff. I guess a new line is a yearly event within the AV-industry.

Hi,

quick question. If I have an HDMI input to the 671, can I get analogue video out? I'm in the process of upgrading old non HD kit, and could do without having to get amp and TV at the same time.

Thanks

No. That would violate all the DRM and HDCP specifications. There are black boxes to do this for you, I think "HD Fury" or something like that is one. Results vary with those type gizmos.

Contrary to what my friend said above, YES you can certainly get an analog output from the AVR, but it will be restricted to standard definition.

OOPS! Mea culpa. I checked the manual and rdgrimes is right! Component video input will downscale to SD video out but digital input via HDMI will not.

I must be thinking of an older Yamaha AVR, 'cause I've done it!

Great = I only want SD, as current TV is SD.

So, okay, how do I go about it?

I currently have tv plugged in to video monitor out. With HDMI source, I get no picture.

Have also tried component video monitor out, with same result.

Is HDMI to DVI the way to go (TV has DVI in).

Help much appreciated.

I've got a question about Adaptive DRC. I realise it thins out the dynamic range at lower volumes but this would instinctively feel 'wrong'.

Could anyone let me know their views and experiences?

Hi,

Recently purchased a Yamaha rx-v671 a/v receiver and listened quite often to net radio (vtune). Now it doesn't work. When I go to net radio, I receive a "not connected" message. This is not a network issue since I can stream Pandora without issue. I have also disabled my firewall. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what the issue could be? Thanks

If other net sources are working, this would suggest to me some sort of authentication issue at the source.

The only thing I can suggest is to go through tech support and see if they can help or point you to the right phone number.
Make sure you have your receiver's MAC address handy when you call in.

I apologize if this is in the wrong section, but I have a specific problem and I'm not sure which category it should be in.

I have a Win7 64-bit PC that I use to stream audio and video to my receiver (Yamaha RX-V671) via a 30ft HDMI cable.

I have my desktop monitor hooked up via DVI and my HDTV via HDMI to receiver, then to TV/speakers. I have it set up in Win7 as a dual-screen setup.

Everything has been working fine for months. Today, for some reason, I wasn't able to use my system due to constant blinking on and off of the monitor. I had to unplug the HDMI connection just to get things back on track.

My concern comes from the receiver itself. Even when the HDTV is off, and my PC is disconnected, there is a flashing on-and-off display on the receiver for "HDMI Out". Now, if my "out" displays are off, why then is the receiver trying to output anything via HDMI? Why is this flashing? What can I do?

Mine does this all the time. Hold the power button in until red light goes out. Or unplug for a minute. After reset it should be connected. Don't know why this happens with only net radio.

Dear all sifus, I've got a Yamaha RX-V671. Now thinking of finding a decent 5.1 speaker system. Will be used mainly for bluray movies. Will appreciate if you could recommend some systems which suit the amp. Thanks

I have the same issue with my Philips 46PFL7605H12. First I thought it was to do with not using a HDMI 1.4 cable. But even after using the new HDMI connection I get no interaction between the devices what so ever. I've reset the ARC settings and powered down both devices several times. No luck so far...I ended up using a SPDIF (coax) cable.

The sale RX-V671 came quicker than expected. I just ordered a RX-V671 for 1599,- NOK ex Vat which is $280, I couldn't pass that up

just installed my RX-v671. I like the internet radio function but am concerned with the lack of choices. Is there any way to add my own? IHeart has some of the best choices. There are many in my are that are not listed, How can I put them in?

I'm have the same issue with my Samsung D7000.
I had to go with the optical in the end.

There must be some sort of defect in the V671 ARC function.

Hi devonedwards, maybe its because the D7000 doesn't support ARC. Normally Samsung tv's has HDMI-2 input as the Audio Return Channel with the letters "ARC" stamped by it.

What am I missing here? Hasn't the RX-V671 been out for a while and no where near $1500?

NOK is the ISO code for the Norwegian krone . . . worth 18 cents U.S. or some such...

Hi,
UE55D7000 does support ARC. It has ARC sign under one of the HDMIs.
In the begining it worked on my setup! I have sound on my RX-v671 from UE55D7000 via HDMI 1.4 cable. After 3 days ARC doesn't work anymore ! I have tried to upload new firmware for my TV and reupload Yamaha's firmware - unfortunately without result.

I'm thinkining about raising a complain in Yamaha service but I'm afraid they will blame the fault on Samsung's TV. What do you think?

You're correct the world wide web is global, NOK=Norwegian Krone. 1500NOK=280USD. btw the price was a typing error on the website of the webshop, just minutes after I purched they changed the price back to $500, but fortunate for me the honored the price and a dirt cheap 671 is on it's way to me.

hi guys
i have an onkyo 609 but am really annoyed with its 24p dropped frame/stutter issue so if no fix it will have to go
question is does this amp in any way interfere with the video?
anybody compared it with a 609 for quality etc?
any inherent ptoblems with this yamaha?

thanks

Thanks

you can do componet to HDMI conversion but not HDMI to component.

You have pretty much the following

1. Run RCA/Optical/Coax to receiver and HDMI to the TV

or

2. If your devices have componet output you can run that to the receiver along with audio nd then run component out to tv...
