The "official" Yamaha RX-V671 thread. 7.1-Channel Network AVR - Page 6

I finally got a network storage drive for all my FLAC files, and the 671 plays them beautifully on the PC setting, but I can't get the album artwork to populate. I don't see any troubleshooting steps regarding this issue in the manual.

I just get a large music note, on the main "artwork" box, and nothing else. I've verified that all files in iTunes have artwork. Is it maybe a matter of making the Artwork Folder available on a different level of the network storage drive? I thought for sure if the artwork was "tagged" with the music file, it should come up right away. Any thoughts?

Lowest I've found the v671 is $441 from OneCall (open box)...

To let you know, this is where I bought mine from thru Amazon. I had a $75 credit and plus I bought a LCD wall mount.....all for $404 by the way.

I was a bit skeptical at first buying a "open box" with a new unit worrying if someone had a issue and brought it back. But looking at the feedback from OneCall (which is at a unreal 100% by the way) I rolled the dice and grabbed it.

Mine arrived a week ago. It came inside a larger box. When I opened it I looked the whole box over to see if any damage and none was seen. the only thing I could see was the tape on each end was broken but not cut or pealed on top. I even checked it closly to see if new tape was put on top and none was seen. I opened the box and everything looked factory sealed. The instruction sheet to CD to YPAO and the remote. Nothing was out of place.

I've been toying with it for a week now and no problems so far. The moment I hooked in the CAT5 cable it found a new update even while I was still setting it up. I can't say all "open box" deals are like mine but I do know the one from OneCall saved me a good chunk of $$$, it's new to me and I'll probably look to OneCall more..

Kenny J

I have a harmony 650 and they don't have the profile for the 671 yet. Others here on the list have used other profiles,,, with mixed results,,,, logitech told me to try to "teach" it,,, don't want to go thru that hassle. Let me no if u have any luck!

Definitely preferable to having to exchange it for another one tho! I wouldn't count this as a negative towards the hardware tho, issues pop up, especially in a new model... and USB can be fickle!

Hi, I've got the same problem with USB. How did you do a reset to factory settings ?
Thank you

Have you tried updating your firmware to version 1.13?

I have noticed this as well both for the Blu-Ray player connected to an HDMI input as well as an Xbox 360 connected with audio coming via an TosLink connection.

I can solve this problem by having my Harmony remote power cycle (by sending two "power toggle" IR commands separated by a 200ms delay) the Yamaha receiver as part of activity switching, but this strikes me as an annoying kludge.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

If you don't use ARC, and since you have a Harmony remote, consider disabling HDMI Control, which might solve your issue.

I asked this question over at the Logitech Harmony forums about leaving "HDMI Control on or not".....the answer was turn it off on all components.

And no I haven't got around to setting my 700 up.

I did go back and re-try YPAO again since I wasn't happy with the D.D & DTS sound coming from the movies. I went in and tried to set up manually since the YPAO was setting my large speaker up as small. I let YPAO do it's thing, it picked my fronts as small again, saved and put in Transformers 2 and Battle LA. It was an improvement over my manual setup. Haven't tried my MP3s thru network, Xbox 360 or AT&T uverse but it sounded about 40% better thru the BR than before.

I had unusual problem this evening. My Wii video is connected to AV2 and Audio connected to AV5 (HD cable). It was working fine until this evening. If I press AV2, I get video, If I press AV5, I get audio but never both together. I have setup my Wii to SCENE 4 button. Now, when I press SCENE 4, I get video but no audio. I have upgraded to new firmware version 1.13 Sunday afternoon. I am not sure this has anything to do with new firmware upgrade 1.13. Does anyone experiencing similar issue? For time being, I am using RBG audio/video cable to connect AV5 and its work fine. For some reason, the Audio video combination from the diff AV port does not work. Any ideas?

Repeat the procedures described on pages 27 and 28 of the OM, set your sound parameters, then reset SCENE 4.

Unfortunately, I am using ARC.

Any suggestions on which one to use? Don't want to hardwire to the router. Found a Medialink one on Amazon but it has a disclaimer - NOT COMPATIBLE with Xbox 360, PS3, Blu-Ray Players, Roku Boxes, or any device that does not run an Operating System. I'm assuming the receiver does not have an operating system. Suggestions appreciated.

Best.... Steve

Is there any way to wirelessly connect this receiver to the network?

It's in the manual under Advanced Setup Menu (page 101). The Item you want is INIT (Restores the default settings), on page 103.

I already tried but it doesn't work, it's just reset the settings audio and video.
I want to reset as new one (firmware included).
I suppose there is a way to do that.
Help me !

Wouldn't a wireless ethernet adaptor do the job?

You can't reset the firmware. If you performed an update then it replaced the original firmware, and the only way to go back would be to find a copy of the original version and update again via USB.

I have one for my PS3, I will give it a shot with the receiver. Anyone know if there is a wireless ethernet adapter out there that can have more then one device plugged into it?

I am not an expert in this field, and have not tried this, but I'm wondering if a hub between the wireless game adapter and the devices would work?

If so, I don't really see myself using them anyway so while it might be nice to have I prolly won't use them.

Can anyone explain this a little more? Im looking at the 671 over the Onkyo 609 but am confused on this. Does the 671 lack some sort of sub pre out?

An inexpensive ethernet switch can connect as many devices to the wireless bridge as you wish. You'd probably want to get a 4-port switch.

It has a sub pre-out, it just doesn't have pre-outs for L/C/R and surrounds (which the 667 had, and the 771 and higher still have).

Both the 671 and the 609 have zone 2 outs (a separate amp can be connected via patch cords for a different "zone") and at least one sub out.

So, RX-V671 is good or really good?

How it compares to SR7005 (audio quality wise).

Thanks
