Anyone else having a problem listening to SiriusXM over the net? All was working fine until 2 or 3 days ago, now all I see is a "not connected" display. And I don't see any way to delete the account info and reenter it, nor any other options by pressing keys to get it to do anything else like revalidate the account.

Go to Menu>Input (whatever input your mbox is)>Video Out and make the Video Out whatever HDMI your computer is.

I dont use Sirius but have you tried resetting through your computer instead of the receiver? Sounds like there may be issues with your account assuming you are able to get Pandora and NetRadio with no problems.

Not sure what you mean or what you are trying to do. More info would be nice. Have you looked into Zone 2 maybe?

Having the same issue with my Yamaha 867. Started a couple days ago. According to a post in another thread, it's a known issue that Yamaha is working to resolve. I was getting the same "not connected" message and did manage to logout and now I can't log back in. I have no problems logging in with the same username/password combo on my ipad, iphone, and/or pc.

Can you post a link to that thread? I haven't been able to find it by searching on this forum.

And like you, I have no trouble logging into Sirius on the net from my computer or iPad. I hope its just something that Sirius changed in its interface that Yamaha can fix, and not due to some contractual issue (like Dish in LA not carrying Pac-12 broadcasts).

I just updated my Yamaha-receiver from RX-V467 to RX-V671. I have one question in mind: Is it possible to make input-specific tone-adjustments in 671? This was not possible in 467. Owner’s manual page 74 “Configuring settings in accordance with a playback source (Option menu)” gave me the impression that it would be possible, but I haven’t figured out how to do it. I’d like to give CD-input a little bass/treble-boost, while leaving other inputs “flat”.

No. It is not possible. The settings referred to are EQ settings. It is easy to change just bass and treble settings though through the "Tone Control" option. Access this with the Option button on the remote.

Thank you for clearing things up. I thought that heading in the manual meant that everything found in the options-menu could be set differently for each input (or at least for each scene).

The higher-end models (RX-A1000 and above) have more advanced SCENEs, which can include the Tone setting. But the 671 doesn't have that.

Where did you buy 671? the only thing that i can find is refurb or use. I'm looking for brand new one that has warranty.

Just received my RX-V871, I love the new GUI (boy have they come a long way since the old black and white things). Was a little surprised that it is lighter than my previous Yammy which was rated a little lower power wise. Although I don't use many of the features available in network receivers (I have a HTPC hooked up so it kinda is useless a bit) and I don't need the added power that often comes in the higher priced units because I use external amps, I do need the pre-outs for this same reason which really bugs me... I have to spend more money to use less of the receivers capabilities!

Anyways, is there a way I can listned to my music in 2 channell without using the sub or crossover specified for when I watch movies? If I listnen to hip/hop it's fine. I prefer this type of music with some heavier bass. But when I really want to listnen to some good music the way it was intended to, I want to be able at the push of a button turn off the sub, set my Fronts to large and take off the crossover. Then when I am finished I want it to, at the press of a button, revert back to the normal settings of all speakers set to small, sub on, and crossover at 80... (idealy I would like to have seperate YPAO configurations for 2 channel only and movie viewing)

This bugs the hell out of me, how can a receiver packed with all these features not offer this. I have to manually change eveyrhting everytime. Now it's not the end of the world, but it is a pain...

I am thinking to try and pickup a used Denon 3311ci which I beleive can have a seperate 2 channel configuration (Audyssey enabled and all), it would also give me the added benefit of Audessey vs YPAO

Is my reasoning ok here?? Am I making too much of a big deal about this feature? You guys know of a way I can achieve this without switching to Denon??

If you don't want the sub to be used for two channel music, then you can always select Pure Direct mode (just one key on the remote).

thanks Kirk. just noticed this, dosen t specify in the manual. it does seem as though my fronts are full range too, however how can i really confirm this? if pressing the pure direct button solves my problem then that would be cool! but it dosent specify that it does. i would have still liked my fronts to benefit from the YPAO configuration though. I guess I cant ask for too much...
can anyone confirm if the Denons can do this?

Pure Direct bypasses EQ and bass management, so a full range signal is sent to L and R speakers.

I live in Finland, where new RX-V671s are still easy to find. I, however, bought a used one. The original owner bought it only a couple of months ago, so I was lucky enough to find a used unit with almost full warranty left.

Wwhat you want is easily done in the Manual Setup but you arent going to be able to do it with 1 press of a button if you still want the Ypao settings to apply. Once you learn to do this it would take about 15 seconds but if you would rather buy another receiver that is up to you.

I know how to do this in the manual setup, this is what I am doing at the moment. I just find it annoying that just to bypass the sub, I need to manually switch my fronts to large and remove the subs. Like I said, it's not the end of the world, I would have prefered a way to this in an easier manner. Some kind of memory function, this way I can fiddle with a 2 channel setup without having to do reset it back for movies and then do it all over again for music.

Pure Direct does revert to 2 channel only, no sub or EQ as Kirk pointed out, but then I lose the corrections YPAO made to my Fronts... I wish the Scene buttons could achieve this, as it does keep the sound programming in memory, but it does not offer custom confirguration of said sound programming.

Aside from this, it serves it's purpose. I may still try and find a used Denon 3311ci for around the same price I paid for the Yammy. I read their manual and it does seem to offer a little more tweakability + Audyssey. Albeit in exchange of older tech (roughly 1 year older), no warranty and a used model...

I think in the Tech category though, from what I remember reading, only the video processing is more recent in the Yammy VS the Denons. Can't remember the specific chip set though.

By the way, do you guys know when the RX-V871 hit the market? Was it the same time at the RX-V671?

I am having a similar issue with Pandora now. It will play a couple of songs and then stop and say "access error". It has been doing this for a couple of days now. If I reconnect it will play a couple more songs and then say "access error" again. I called Yamaha support and they said that they are not aware of any such issue. He asked for some of the Network info from the receiver and said a Level 2 Tech will call me back within 48hrs.

I've had that issue for a long time. Fortunately for me Pandora will play for hours before getting this error. I found I can fix it by simply changing to another channel and back. I have several Sirius and Pandora channels set up as presets, so I can simply press "preset next" and then "preset previous". Its an inconvenience, but not as bad as the Sirius bug where it simply no longer works.

When you talk with the Level 2 Tech, please see if you can get any updates on what is going on with Sirius.

Okay - I just read through 23 pages of this forum. I saw a few people asking for suggested sound settings but for the most part they did not get any responses. Sorry I gave up but 23 pages takes a long time to go through and I don't feel well.

I am a pretty tech savvy guy but I am not an audiophile. I know that a big part of the answer is what sounds best to you but I am curious if I could get some feedback to the below.

#1 I am watching a movie on my Dish Network satellite receiver (Hopper). I read a couple folks say they watch TV on the "Straight" setting all the time so I changed it to that but then lost my surround sound speakers (I have a 5.1 system). I then hit the surround decode and chose a setting that sounded good to me.

What I want is for the system to automatically interpret what is being fed to but would like all my speakers working all the time. Is this the right method?

#2 I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Blu Ray player. I mostly watch new Blu-Ray and 3D Blu Ray movies on it. What settings mentioned above would be a good way for me to make sure I am capitalizing on the receivers capabilities.

#3 When watching a pre-recorded show on my DVR the other night I hit the "Movie" button and changed it to "Spectical". I actually liked the sound. Did this force the receiver into a fancier mode or something?

Straight does exactly that. It automatically interprets what it is being fed and that is all that is put out. It does not enhance. The reason your surround speakers stopped working is because you were getting a 2.0 signal. Put it on straight with a signal that you are sure is 5.1 and you will see. Not everything on tv is 5.1 so it will be switching back and forth accordingly. If you leave it in a Cinema mode (Standard, SciFi whatever) then all speakers will work all the time. It takes 2.0 and fakes 5.1. That is the only way they will all work all the time. Or surround decode but it is doing the same thing basically. Surround decode just doesnt use the Cinema DSP settings so it is closer to the original sound. The manual will explain the different DSP settings. None are more fancy. Jusr different. Use whatever you like.

I have the Polk Audio RM6600 System and Subwoofer (PSW450). I just checked the manual for how they suggest setting it up and wanted some feedback on whether or not this was still the suggested method since I have a newer receiver. I do have it wired like this but I had changed the front speakers to small and I am not happy with the bass tones of my system so I was going to start adjusting it today. Should I just follow these instructions? Am I just using too old of a system? The speakers and sub still work great and sounded awesome on my older receiver.

In my opinion (and many others) there is no benefit to hooking your speakers up to the sub. Especially with such a nice receiver. Hook them up to the receiver and run the YPAO. You have a 5.1 setup right?
