How do you get it to upconvert to 1080p? I do not see any menu options and the Video info shows native resolution being passed along without conversion. In the video setup menu I have Processing set to On, but does not seem to affect upscaling.

I don't use that feature, but according to the manual there is also a "Resolution" submenu item; the default is "Auto" to select a resolution "in accordance with TV resolution" which I assume means using the HDMI info returned from the TV set. I would guess that if your TV says it can handle a resolution that matches the receiver's input resolution that the receiver would pass that through rather than upscale, and that your TV probably says it can handle many different resolutions. Probably have to force an output resolution with the "Resolution" submenu (guessing though).

It only upconverts 480i and 480p. See owners manual for details.

Hoping someone can help, I picked this receiver up off Amazon 2 weeks ago. Everything was working flawlessly. While watching TV tonight there was a click (similar to when it powers on) and the center channel stopped working. I hooked up the speaker to another rec and it works fine; hooked up another speaker to the center channel and nada. Any suggestions?

Well since you already tested the speaker on another receiver and it works fine and your receiver is only 2 weeks old, I would suggest calling Amazon back up and doing a return/exchange.

It may be getting confused because you have 2 of the same component hooked up to it. HDMI control is a finicky thing. That's why I don't use it.

Is there a way to make the receiver play music without the tv being on? I have an HTPC that is connect to the receiver and I want to play music from it but do not want to leave the plasma tv on at the same time. Every time I turn off the tv all sound goes with it. I turned off ARC, HDMI control, tv speakers, and made sure amp audio is on. Anyone have a suggestion?

I dont use a computer with my 671 and I dont know what ind of tv you have nut it sounds like something in your tv settings is nit letting the signal pass through unless the tv is on.
Computer is HDMI directly to receiver which is why I do not understand why tv setting would even matter. I checked with the ps3 and the sound cuts out but comes back. Computer is running XBMC on Debian. It has weird issues like not filling up the tv in 1080p mode so it could be a computer problem. Tv is a Panasonic ST50 but since the ps3 worked I'm going to assume its not a tv setting.

I have the st50 also and from what you have stated agree that it sounds like a computer issue.

When I connect my iPhone 4 (IOS 6.1) to my RX-V671 (FW 1.39) using the front USB port I get the message "USB connected". When I select the dock input it says "No Device".
I canot play anything from the iPhone to the receiver via the USB connection.

Can anybody give me any advice on this?

Hey, I just recently bought this receiver and love it! I had a question though. When I turn the volume to say... -15db I smell a burnt electronics smell , which greatly concerns me so I turn the volume back down. I have a 3.1 setup at the moment with polk speakers and a kllipsche sub. The polk speakers are all 8ohms. Does anyone know if if this is bad? I am wondering and hoping this is just some burn off of the chemicals and resins on the components, since they have never been that hot before and that it will go away. Everything seems to work properly, but I am still very concerned. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!
If it's new I would say the smell should go away in a few days. How hot does it feel on top of the receiver? Also, do you have the main speakers set to SMALL since you have a sub? That will offload the bass to the sub and the receiver won't have to work as hard to reach a given volume.

Well i have had it for a month or two. I typically play it around -30 to -40db. I only smell it when much higher than that, but don't keep it up there cause im scared for it lol. I will look into the small speakers thing. However -15db shouldn't be a problem imo since it can go to +16.5. Just hoping its not slowly causing damage and in half a year or so something stops working. Btw the smell is kind of strong. I smell it from like 10ft away

Hi to everyone, i hope someone can help me. I connected the xbox to my 671 via HDMI port. I noticed that sometimes the video blinks or flickers, just for a moment...like a noise or an interference.
I changed the hdmi cable, I tried another HMDI port but the problem is not solved. Strangely if I use the 671 in standby and pass-through mode the video is ok...If I turn on the ampli the problem reappears.
Ah, the MySky and BD player video signal are perferct (also via HDMI)...
Help! can someone help me? Valerio

If it only flickers once when you turn on the receiver it is nothing to worry about.

unfortunally, not once where I turn on the receiver...when the receiver is on the flickers appear...not continuously but at intervals...every minute, every 2 minutes, every 5, there is no rules...but the strange thing is that the problem doesn't appear if the receiver is in pass-through mode

Do you have the 671 video processing off?
