Yes batteries have been changed.

I have dish network as my tv provider. I wonder if the 722k remote is causing the problem?

1) While I would stop just shy of calling BT1886 a "magic bullet," I now have to admit that it does seem to improve some aspects of picture quality ... provided you have a well mastered source. My fear that it would just make your set look like a CRT with the brightness control cranked way too high has, so far, proven to be "overwrought."
2) Using the 10Pt WB adjustments on the LK (and presumably other LG) series, it is possible to achieve a reasonably faithful approximation of the BT1886 Reference EOTF, but be prepared to do a lot of cranking the "knobs" at 10% and 20%. OTOH, your not going to get anywhere with an old school 2pt WB.

Curious about your calculator. Did you ever post it someplace, and how does it differ from Zoyd's?

Are the LK450-UB and UH models from different regions or is the UH just a newer model revision? I noticed they're listed together in the manual specifications.

Did you buy it in the U.S.? I have the UB version and live in the U.S.

Bought it locally (Philippines here), but I saw another thread on slickdeals where somebody bought a -UH model at Wal-Mart in the US.
Apparently there are also issues updating the firmware on sets that have version 04.00.xx.
I'm curious, what are the pros and cons of the *VA ("D" panel) version of this set? Most people want the S-IPS (like myself), but does the *VA panel version offer any advantages over the S-IPS panel version? and what type of *VA panel is the "D" panel? A-MVA? S-MVA? (certainly not S-PVA, which is found on Samsungs and Sonys)
I think VA has slightly better response time and less blur/ghosting, but poorer color and viewing angles.
Did anybody notice improvements to response time or ghosting/blurring after updating the firmware? Especially in 60FPS games when panning around.
I also get a random bug where HDMI audio drops out for 1-2 seconds.

According to the notes that I have, the "U" designation indicates that the main chassis was made in Asia. The second letter could indicate the design of the hull and stand.

I wonder why they never bothered with firmware updates for the LK450-UH and LK430-UG models. Maybe the version 04.00.xx firmware has no major differences from version 05, or they just overlooked them?

which type do you have? I believe VA and IPS technlogies have near identical response times but only VA has issues with visible, obvious blur/ghosting (and poorer color and viewing angles).

the only new thing v5 does is change time from miliary format (24 hour) to am/pm (12 hour) format

**Update**

Posted in this thread a while back. Still have my original LG 55LK520. It was giving me some hassles early on with clouding a a small backlight leak. It still has a small backlight leak, but I spent roughly 2 days and 4 hours calibrating the TV and I am moderately pleased with it. Calibrating the TV helped a lot.
I turned the backlight way down and the image is much more rich and full then before. From the factory everything is really bright and colors really shine, but I love the way it looks now.

Looking back I would have spent an extra few hundred dollars on a nicer model, but at the price point I got the TV for and the no interest deal through Best Buy I am pleased.

I just wish all my sources were in HD, I am currently not HD for television which doesn't look good at all, but Blu Rays and other 1080p sources are very impressive.

Just a small update. Enjoying the TV, the 55inch is the best feature, love the big picture. Never gets old. smile.gif

I was going to say that but I see you beat me to it wink.gif I never bothered to update mine because the time only lasts for a few seconds and it's not worth the hassle (and potential problems) to update. I don't believe in updating unless there is a definite performance improvement (and after others have done so first smile.gif). NOTE: that was for my LD520 but the idea is the same.

I always update all my TVs when an update is available and have never had any issues with doing so. Sometimes other technical improvements are made that are not included in the official description and so it doesn't hurt to have the latest firmware on your TV. Just wait for others to apply the update and provide feedback on it before you do, in case the update does actually make something worse or broken on the TV.

My TV has the chevron pixels and Y in the full model number, so it's probably S-IPS.
Anyway, it does suffer from some ghosting/blur and image splitting when panning around, especially in 60FPS games. I'll try to upload a video later.

I don't have this issue, but I have the 42LK450-UB.

That's fair. There has only been a couple of updates for my LD520 but I pushed LG Support to give me a more detailed description of what was involved and after about a month, and a couple of emails to Korea, the updates, for mine, were insignificant so I didn't bother. Others models may differ. That's sort of why I don't like SmartTVs (app updates have caused new issues with some) but we are getting off topic a bit.

Here's a video I took that should illustrate the ghosting/image splitting I was talking about. Is this normal?
My previous Samsung 32R81 (RIP) didn't seem quite this bad when panning around.

I have nothing to that extreme extent on my (S-IPS panel) 42LK450-UB. A slight judder at worst, and only when playing with the camera like that (like in the video). I have the Xbox 360 and PS3 and both are connected via HDMI. The Xbox 360 outputs all games at 1080/60p while the PS3 outputs some games at 1080/60p and others at 720p (though 720p is more common on the PS3).

If anyone can post a similar clip of panning around in a 60FPS game, I'd appreciate it. The video did kinda exaggerate the ghosting/image splitting a bit though.

Another bug I noticed on the LK430 - every hour or so the audio will cut out for 1-2 seconds.

I think your model is different from mine since you have the 32LK430-UH and I have the 42LK450-UB. I don't seem to have the issues you are describing. Sure there is some motion blur (as is to be expected on any 60Hz LCD), but nothing like what you may find on a *VA panel.
I can kinda tolerate the blur/ghosting now, but is the audio cutting out for a second or two common on LG TVs?

not on mine it isn't

I went from enjoying my lcd to hating it. Recently a tech came out and replaced 2 boards in my unit (which didnt fix my problem) and I lost my calibration settings. I've looked and tried all the settings in this thread that I could find and they all come out looking like crap (too blueish) on my lk450, even though I got my settings from somewhere in this thread the first time.

Highly irritated as this is my main monitor.

what issue did you have in the first place?
Yeah, as PlasmaPZ80U asked, what issues did you have? As far as setting go, you should have written them down (I have). Besides, if they replaced boards and you lost your cal settings, there's no guarantee that the old settings would've worked because of tolerance differences from tv to tv, even within the same model line. That's why it's never advisable to use settings from another set. Once you get your problem fixed, get a cal disk like WoW, AVS HD709, etc. and set your basic settings; brightness, contrast, aspect, sharpness, color, etc. Your tv won't be calibrated but the pq should be noticeably better.
