I'm pretty happy with current TV I own and i'm not fumbling with those options anymore, other than game mode vs standard mode when playing video games or watching movies
IPS glow around 10 minutes of this youtube video of 42ld450
Something seems to be amiss. I have some "glow" if you will if you move around or up and down in viewing the screen, but nowhere NEAR the level shown in the video. This appears as though it were shot in a completely dark room with a wide aperture set on the camera making it, thereby exaggerating any screen issue. Yes, if it really looked that bad who wouldn't complain. I have no issue, for instance , when watching 235:1 movies and the black bars. Also, who knows what the back light level was when it was taken?
On the other hand, I made a comment earlier in this thread about one 47LK520 I saw at BB that showed banding (and some light leakage) but the same set at Walmart no less, that looked great with no objectionable picture issues. Last years LD models seemed to be similar. There were a few new owners who cited the "glow" issue, leakage, or banding, but far more were more satisfied than not compared against other TV brands. There was a batch of TVs, for instance, from Paul's TV and anyone who bought an LG in a certain size had the same screen issue.
So. . . as you yourself mentioned, there are always trade offs, but also sometimes a manufacture date of some models seem to come up and have issues. That said, I gave up on Sony, Samsung (Samsung was my favorite in 2008), Sharp, Toshiba, Vizio, and a few more, that had serious issues on every TV they make across the board. In fact, I would take some Insignia models over some big name brands if I knew of a way to get at gray scale adjust in a service menu for them. My daughter and her husband love their 37" Insignia, and even with the bare minimum "calibration" I could do, the picture does look darn good most of the time.
Well, we should get back on the "LK" forum topic here. Not clutter it up with non related off topic data.
