Do you; or would you; use a late night listing mode if you had it? - Page 5

I have used it when my wife complained about the sound, late at night. That has happened once or twice. Mostly I just keep the volume 20 dB below reference, and they don't complain.

I currently own a Yamaha Receiver and I certainly DO use it and would want it on future models I would consider.
It is VERY useful and reduces Bass and otherwise "large impact" sounds while keeping voice levels good as to not disturb sleeping family.

I have headphones for this purpose. If I do not have the headphones on-hand, I might use the late-night mode. I would more likely just nudge down the sub-level, that's the only frequency that carries.

No scaled down sound for me
I never watch movies past 10 in the evening, anyways

No problem! - moved the wife to the back bedroom - now she has her TV on all night, and I get to get a good night's rest! No need for the Volume thingy!

Sorry, but seen as your a BIG BOY you wont mind me telling you theres a midnight mode on your Pioneer SC-37.Yes it is on one of your many systems.

I would never use it any more, now that we have moved into our house and it's just us hearing the sound, but it would have been incredibly useful when we were living in apartments and our condo. It was SO annoying to watch movies with my hand on the volume control the entire time, turning it up while characters were talking, and turning it down during the action. I could never set the remote down. The problem was that we didn't want to disturb the neighbors, and the volume needed to hear conversations clearly would make the action sequences much louder than I was comfortable with.

So, in short, if I was still living in an apartment or townhome type place, I would demand a night mode on my receiver, but now, I would hardly ever use it.

I voted 'No' about a day before I had my first angry neighbor visit... now I get it. It's a crime against music and a necessity for movies and TV, if you live in an apartment like I do. Now that I know how it's used, I have to say that it's a God-send. Actually it's a Denon-send.
