I am putting an iPad in wall (iDocx), and want it to connect to the head end closet via 1 or 2 Cat6. I think I can get charging working for the iPad using an inexpensive USB Cat5 extender (under $20 on Amazon), and plug into the Apple iPad 10W charger in the head end.
If I wanted to accomplish more... I'd like to be able to sync content and apps from a Mac in the head end to the iPad... I'd need to get
1) USB 2.0 over Cat6, (most USB over Cat5 extenders are USB 1.1) and
2) get the iPad level 10W power into the USB line (the USB would be connected to a Mac Mini that DOES NOT have adequate 10W power for the iPad.)
For #2 was thinking about a powered USB hub, but haven't found one with the adequate power for the iPad yet.
Any guidance??
Thanks!
