Yamaha HTR-6190 And A Computer Hook-Up

Hi,
So excited because I just purchased a new computer that comes with an HDMI outlet. No more burning discs to watch on my Sony KDS-50. Streaming media right to my TV. Well, not so. I haven't quite figured out how to output the computer to the TV.
At first I set up my computer to run dual monitors. So far, so good. Ran the HDMI over to the Sony and plugged it into input 6. And yes, I did read in the Sony manual that you shouldn't run the computer into the HDMI but instead use the DVI connection. But the picture looked great after tweaking the settings on the computer. But the problem is - moving pictures but no sound. And besides, using the DVI, all I would be able to get is stereo with the audio jacks provided. Well, that blows.
Here's where I thought I'd go through the Yamaha. Picked an empty slot (DVD) and turned her on thinking I'd solved my issues. Nope - all I get is my desktop background (which looks pretty on the big screen but gets boring after awhile). No sound and no moving picture.
So - how do I hook up my computer to my entertainment center to finally enter this new age of media savyness?

Okay - figured it out myself. It was a combination of making sure the input settings on the receiver were set for HDMI and setting the computer to 2 monitors with the Sony as the predominant set. Thanks to everyone for their help....oh, wait a minute.
