Where to find program??

Looking for a free very easy to use program to draw out my room to scale and able to color walls,floor ect..Ive seen lots of people on here using something but not sure..Again...simple,free for dummies.. thanks

There is not much else that is free or much easier. How complex of a room are we talking here?

lol..its not the complexity of the room so much as the programs..Its just a room about 17wx19dx11h

No offense but if you can't handle google sketchup, you may want to hire someone who can do it for you.

eh..i can do this stuff with rulers and paper..For me programs just make it difficult. I do what it looks like I should do and it never works. I actually think Ive used that program a while back and never could get it working.
You make a line..with the ruler and its never there? Where did it go? I just want a nice solid line "x" inches long...Thats it..lol..

Its nothing I have to do..Its just something I was wanting to mess with.

Google sketchup was a bit intimidating to me at first also. Watch the help videos and just start playing around with it. You'll get the hang of it in no time and can use the basic functionality rather quickly.

If you're comfortable with drafting then go that route and scan the result for the forum. I can't think of a reason why it needs to be electronic. If you do want an electronic drawing set then you can get someone to replicate you're drawings for you.

Word of advice if you're having problems like this (besides watching the videos, etc.) is to immediately change your orientation; Camera---Standard Views---Top. Sketchup is primarily for 3D modeling, so drafting in all 3 dimensions can be very confusing for the uninitiated. With the 'Top' view you're looking at everything as you would in a floor plan, and this should help you at least start to draw within the X & Y dimensions without Z screwing things up.

EDIT: Not to be confused with 'Dimension X' referenced in another thread...

The tutorials are essential for sketchup. Otherwise, look on e-bay for an outdated copy of visio.

Coming from AutoCAD, Sketchup made me crazy for about a year. Then I watched the videos.
