Guilty pleasure for me.

I've already got STARCRASH and amazon just moved my copy of ALIEN 2 ON EARTH to "Shipping soon". I got GALAXINA last week.

So BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS is an automatic buy for me.

The Amazon.com link today reads: "This title will be released on July 12, 2011."
On Monday the same-page said "This title will be released on April 12, 2011."

Wish they would get organized!

Saw this at the theater when I was a kid.

I'll probably pick this up.

Screenplay by John Sayles (!), and a great early score by James Horner that was used in the background of countless sci-fi trailers for many years after this release. It's one of the more fun "rip-offs" to have come out in the immediate aftermath of STAR WARS.

What a great poster. Never heard about this film. Its a must buy.

The hammerhead. And the universe's only voluptuous spaceship. In hi-def.

Oh, lord, I may actually have to buy this...

Oh my, what campy fun.
A must buy for me.

Sigh...these kids today

I have great memories of this film. I wonder how many of them will be ruined by watching it again. It seems about 80% of movies I have fond memories of from watching when I was a kid are completely ruined by watching them 20-30 years later as an adult.

This was (with the possible exception of FRANKENSTEIN UNBOUND) the closest Corman ever came to a big-budget SF movie. And, of course, scenes from this movie were used as stock footage for subsequent Corman low-budget films for years to come (SPACE RAIDERS, etc.)

I saw this as an adult at the commercial theater. I don't remember it being very good but who knows. Some of the stuff I will watch now and get quite a bit of pleasure from.....

The Power
Project Stardust
Atlantis the Lost Continent
The Four Sided Triangle

etc

I guess that's why they sent me an e-mail saying my ship date just got postponed.

Camaron worked on the fx on the movie.

Cameron put so much effort into this B movie that someone from the film industry noticed and put him on the map. He really did have to work himself to the top. BBTS really started his career in the film industry. You know the rest of his successes.

As far as James Horner, it was the same situation

I haven't seen this either, but I like the effort being put into the Roger Corman BD line and I'm curious, as I have fond childhood memories of a few similar films myself, like Ice Pirates, though I suspect I'd find it absolutely abysmal today, I'd still probably pick it up, just to see it again. At the moment I can't think of how to word this without potentially offending their fans, so please forgive the wording, but is this as bad as Star Crash and Forbidden World? Based on the online fanbase, I blind bought both and just couldn't get into either, practically watching them both on 1.5x FF.

James Horner scored TWOK after he did this and it sounds very similar.

Whoops, sorry! The wrath of khan

This movie, Star Trek 2, and Krull have a lot of the same musical elements. ST 2 is by far one of Horner's best works besides Willow and Glory, etc....

And you can really hear it!

I mean I love Horner but he rips himself off constantly.
