Thanks so much. Been dying for this update since I really love this TV, just the pops get really annoying. So now we just need the D7000 firmware to get uploaded. Looks like I will be checking this thread daily from work until it gets posted (compared to every other day I used to before they announced this fix).

Muffin has already uploaded the D7000 firmware. Not aware of anyone who has tried it (via download) yet...

I'm on 1015 so I need a way to roll back.
Yeah, that has not been uploaded AFAIK. Hopefully soon!

Can we not just download the 1013.1 firmware from the website for the D7000 and install it? I'm wondering what samsung is sending out on the other usb stick that makes it so special?
can someone tell me an episode and time that is on netflix that use to have brightness pops? So I can check my 1019.5
post #1779 of 2252
I would ask samsung if theres a way to roll back a firmware or ask themn why it isnt optimizing

My TV did run through the "optimization" cycle. Has anyone gotten the optimization, but is not seeing any improvement in pops?

Did it change any of your calibration settings? Have you put a meter on it to check the black level? Thanks.

I'm a little discouraged by the reports from PN64D8000 owners. I was in a chat session earlier today to have my remote control replaced (the up/down arrows on the QWERTY side get "stuck") and asked about the 1024.8 firmware. He didn't know about it at first but then talked to someone else and then said he'd send it, but only if I was having issues. I am a little hesitant at this point to bother with it until further evidence shows it works and doesn't mess anything else up. I will keep my eyes on this thread for the time being and hope to see positive results.

I was on the phone for over an hour with samsung and they had no idea when I mentioned about the recent firmware "optimizing" for some some tv's but not others. The tech said if it installed correctly, then everything should be fine. I didn't quite buy that. The only thing they offered was to send out a tech. I think I am going to take their offer, since I can't return it and if it can't be solved thru an exchange or something like that, then I will ask for a refund.

So I upgraded my 64d550 and didn't see optimization. Factory reset didn't change the firmware so I have no way of rolling back.

Haven't noticed any brightness pops yet even without the optimization but haven't had enough time on the TV to say whether it worked or not.

Any way to roll back the firmware so I can try the update again?

Good luck, Nesbo. Let us know how it goes.

Considering this is a brand new issue with the optimization and whatnot, I bet they have no way to respond to you with their limited call notes and talking points.

I'll wait to hear from you before I proceed....

Yeah, I agree. I wasn't upset with the support tech. He spent several minutes asking around and wasn't able to get the right answer.

In the meantime I hope everything works out for everyone. I love this TV and will hope that somehow I can get this resolved even if I can just decrease the # of pops I am seeing.

It will not allow rollback to 1013
Even tries the 1014.6 file and of course it would not roll back 1015. Until we get a way to roll back D7000s on 1015 some of us are dead in the water.

When is the tech coming?

Just updated my 59D7000 with the firmware posted a few pages back. Worked great and I got the optimization message. I was still on 1014 luckily.

So I rolled the firmware back to 1024.3 on my PN64D8000. I watched two scenes in the movie Heat on blu-ray where there are big pops. I then reinstalled 1024.8 (still did not get optimization screen) Watched the scenes again with the new firmware and I still see the same exact pops at the same intensity.

So I know for certain that the upgrade that was sent to me has no effect on pops. I am quite bummed to be honest. Again, I wish there was some way to figure out why some people get the optimization screen and other like Red and I do not.

How did you rollback?

Nesbo probably downloaded the software through the internet connection on the tv, which is 1024.3 (most current available).

Tivo, please go to Menu, Contact Samsung, and check if this is the exact FW you have:

T-GAP8AKUC-1024.8, BT-Q

Thanks.

Ok so if i install the 1019.5, and it doesnt work, can i reset the 59d550 to factory settings and download the 1019 again? Or will it stay on 1019.5?
I've started a separate thread here to try and organize results of the firmware fix.

It's close, but mine has a /G at the end. Yours doesn't I assume? Maybe the ones that "optimized" have the /G and the others don't. We'll need input from others to determine if that's the case.

I have:

T-GAP8AKUC-1024.8, BT-Q / G

I will try the firmware if i know how to get back to 1019.
