That should be it as far as getting the TV to recognize that there's a firmware update on the stick. But just to let you know I tried everything I could think of last night, including using the uploaded version and also the one I received from Samsung again, to try and upgrade with the optimization. I simply had no luck at all. For some, as of yet, unexplained reason our TVs simply are not doing the optimization as part of this 1024.8 upgrade.
I would like to think that it doesn't matter it you got the optimization or not, as a few others have suggested, but in my case I am still seeing brightness increases in the exact spots in movies that I was seeing prior to this update.
I honestly think that since I am still within my return window for the TV I am going to have them exchange it for another one. I only I have better luck with the next one as far as brightness fluctuations go.
