sub for a pair of active speakers??

For what you want, a tight sound, I'd go with the Legend. It's a sealed design so it should get a bit better recovery time, although with output I'm not sure. I've never heard any of them so I don't know. Do you listen pretty loud during your FPS games?

+1 on the Epik. I have the same Swans-nice sounding (and looking) speakers for the price.

In an apartment you'll have to have your sub turned down a good bit unless the apartments are newer and very well built. And even then you'll need to keep it down unless you have thick concrete walls.

I believe you'll get a cleaner sound with the epic, but low end response may be affected because you have 2 12" drivers in a small enclosure. Not much room to breathe. To get their quoted 16-18 hz in room response you'll need a tiny room and won't have very much output down in that range unless they're supplying a ton of eq and then you get into distortion.

Of the three, the Epik would have been my choice. I'll bet that you will be very happy with it, at all volume levels. You did good.

Having never owned a sub before, you are going to experience a bit of a learning curve to get the best out of it. Come on back in when you get it, and we will help you.

I might be mistaken here, but I don't believe the Rythmik amp has a high pass crossover for the mains. I think it is a full range pass through, so you can daisy chain another sub or amp to it.

My Chase sub amp has an 80 Hz high pass XO, but I do not use it.

I have not heard either the Rythmik or the Epik, but both have excellent reputations. The Epik does have more cone area and I prefer sealed, but this is just my opinion.

If that is the amp, then yes, you are correct. That is a really nice amp.
