Direct2Drive (and other) game deals thread - Page 17

Well there are other things about dishonored that are fun, that don't involve it being difficult. Like experiencing the environment, the story, the dialogue and lore. It's all very reminiscent of Bioshocks style.

It's a stealth game, so you have the option of choking someone out or stabbing them. Or fighting them. I chose the non-lethal options, because it creates a higher level of difficulty. I could just blow through it and kill everything but I'd probably finish this game in a few hours that way.

Dark Souls for $20 on steam. Awesome game. I still have to finish that one. I'm very near the end and I'm torn between reading up on the things I need to not miss and just getting through it on my own. Because you can miss a lot without help.

Eventually, I realized how BL2 is just a little bit better in so many ways that it ends up being significantly better.

HeadRusch - put a pause on the first game and get Borderlands 2 - start a new character and enjoy. I'll jump in on co-op if you want some weekend. The DLC for BL2 is good too.

I agree 1000% with this. It is absolutely hilarious. I put BL1 on hold and haven't gone back to it, but I can whenever I want. I always find myself in the same dilemma... I really should try to play the games in the order in which they're released, and then wonder whether or not I'm going to "get" the full story if I jump ahead, like movies, but the right deal came along for BL2, I watched (too many) videos about the game play so just went to it and started playing. I have the same decision to make now with Crysis 3... buy it now, buy the package on Steam with 1 & 2 included, play them and then play 3, or go for broke. I'm as much about eye candy in games so with my hardware, I'd definitely be leaning towards the latter.

What??? Who???

Nekid wimmens???

Where dey at???

I know, I know everybody loves nekid wimmens, but back to the topic of Xcom for a minute. There is nothing more frustrating than having a soldier miss a point blank 85% shot, then say "oh dear", after which they get their head blown off, and the rest off the crew panics and spends their turn shooting each other. Oh wait there is, having the aliens laugh at you, casually walk up and shoot them. All because you have to spend your money pleasing the UN because they get their panties in a twist when they don't get a new satellite. Xcom Reboot is survival horror strategy without a typewriter to save. So frustrating, yet so addictive.

Cool, thanks!

Any recommendations? I like arcade racers. I grabbed Grid because I think I played the demo on the 360 and thought it was pretty good. Almost also got Dirt2, but I read problems with the wireless 360 controller, so it scared me away.
I heard Driver was pretty good (at least for the single player missions), I bought it a while ago but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.
Does anyone know if FUEL is basically Motorstorm for the PC? It LOOKS like it should be fun..but....???
Driver San Francisco is a ton of fun, if that's the Driver that we're talking about. It's an open world game that loves the player.

Fuel has a really cool world, filled with poorly designed mechanics, boring races, and terrible handling. It's a bucket of misses potential. Cool to see the world, terrible to actually play.
Thx on the reality-check on Fuel........I can't remember much about Driver:SF except I played 1/2 an hour and I was still doing endless training missions........one thing that seemed lame was the game seemed designed to force you to constantly "Ghost Jump" into other vehicles in order to end chase-down races quicker.
AKA: Don't bother weaving in and out of traffic trying to catch some guy, just become a ghost and transport yourself into the car directly in front of him, then turn into the bad guy. Fun, at first.....Might be worth a revisit.....

Wait, why we talking about Driver, I don't see it as part of GMG's sale lineup.

Anyone care to comment on Steam's $9.99 HITMAN ABSOLUTION game?

I have Dirt 2 and 3 and they are awesome. I actually finished all of Dirt 2 and rarely ever finish the content in race games. I have F1 2010 and it is great too. They say the next 2 versions are worthy upgrades. Sometime I like to just hop into F1 2010 and haul ass around a particular track just to get the driving urge out of my system. I have Driver too and it is pretty cool, just wish the world was a little bigger. However I don't see Driver for sale at GreenManGaming.

I went ahead and gave Dirt2 a shot, and glad I did! I love the presentation, graphics, music, events, etc.. Great suggestion. And the 360 controller works like a charm once the default racing controller is changed in the options outside the trailer.

Grid is similar, but harder, and I don't think there's an adjustable difficulty. Dirt2, OTOH, puts medium as "casual" and hard as "serious". The early races I played were pretty easily winnable, which I like. Grid (and Ridge Racer Unbound) has very tough battles for getting up to 3rd place! eek.gif I might up D2 difficutly to "serious" for more rewards next time I play. It also looks a little better than Grid.

Now I'm thinking I might nab Dirt3 while it's on sale. smile.gif
post #495 of 820
Dirt 3 is ok, but you get into those gymkana events or whatever they are, and I absolutely loathe those...YMMV.....its still a good game, and worth the $5 or so they are asking for it no doubt..... my problem with the rally games is as I play them, I want to use the wheel....but the wheel on the PC is awkward due to my desk mount (blah blah blah blah).....either way, when games are $10 bucks or less, you're going to be getting value for dollah' no matter what..

GameFly has Spec Ops: The Line and The Darkness II Bundle (PC Digital Download) on sale for $4.99 - 20% coupon code GFDAPR20 = $4.
Note, game activates via Steam Client

Additionally, GameFly also has BioShock and BioShock 2 Bundle (PC Digital Download) on sale for $4.99 - 20% coupon code GFDAPR20 = $4. Please refer to the forum thread for additional deals.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'd like to call this the "Two A-List Titles That Just Aren't Very Fun To Play Combo Deal!".................I hated Darkness (the first one)....hated it, one of the few shooters I simply stopped playing because the mechanics were so wrong. A shooter where shooting guys is no fun and charging them to repetitively watch 10 second death animations gets old in the first 5 minutes of play. And yet..here I am tempted to check out DARKNESS PT 2........

Spec Ops: THE LINE has so much good about it.....that just never pans out. Its Gears of War in the near-future, fighting human bad guys and not...monster bugs....but for me, the game was one great slog through level after level. You are constantly picking up new guys, exhausting your ammo, picking up other guns....hiding behind cover all the time and, well....that's the entire game. Somewhere along the line they just forgot to make the game really entertaining :P

(Note: I am a guy who finds Gears of War to be tough to play, I stalled on the second and never opened the 3rd....and forget this new one they just released) but I generally ENJOY 3rd person shooters. Alan Wake, others.....Spec Ops.....just.....I forced myself to finish it (recently, too). Enemies appear, you take cover, shoot them when they pop out, and keep moving forward. Its got all the checkmarks for what should have been an A or B level title......but something about it (perhaps the repetitive environments) just felt "ok thats enough of that...I'll come back tomorrow", and tomorrow was 3 months later :P

Your mileage may vary..but for 4 bucks...I'm tempted to throw away $4 just for Darkness II...even though I know I'll regret it in the end.
Spec Ops gameplay is actively making fun of you, the player. That's kind of the point. It is 4.5 hours well spent to see how that game unfolds, and well worth anybody's $5. Spec Ops: The Line is up there with Journey as the most memorable game I played in 2012.

Headrusch missed the point. Buy it.

Bioshock acquired. Never finished part one due to a theft. Never played part 2 due to word of mouth.

The Skydrift pack (via Steam) is on sale at GMG for under $3 if you use voucher GMG20-FDSCL-AQQXD.

Skydrift is one of those games I wonder why more people aren't playing. It's an arcade combat flying racer, and pretty much nails the concept. The races are tight, it looks good, and multiplayer is fun too. The only negative is, even though FRAPS says the game is running at 60fps, it doesn't have the high-framerate smooth feel - I'm pretty sure it's rendered internally at 30fps or below. But it still plays well. Oh, and a gamepad is a must, but I bet a joystick would be fun too.

The pack includes the game, special planes unlocked (worthwhile!), and some extra multiplayer maps. At this price, just get it! smile.gif

+1

I didn't really have much of an interest in the Walking Dead game, but a friend said it was his favorite game of last year and won't shut up 'till I play it. Hope it's as good as he says it is.

I also picked up Dead Island GOTY (via Steam) off Amazon for $5, so it looks like it's going to be a zombie weekend. eek.gif
