That model had problems when using HDMI out with certain brands of TV sets. Are you sure that's not the issue?

Who did you ask about repair?

If you contact Toshiba Customer Service at their 800 number, I'm sure they will tell you Tops Electronics is their factory service center. RD-XS units have a reputation for being operationally finicky and Tops has a master repair tech who has worked with these RD-XS models since Day One. Moreover, parts are in short supply and Toshiba turned all their parts over to Tops. Tops also has direct access to the factory engineers in Japan.

It's not only the HDMI same problem on rca and component jacks. Toshiba gave me PSSGI for repair think there in massachusetts.

PSSGI obtained Tops around two years ago. So they are the same company. What's confusing is Tops still maintains the same web site, the last I saw.

I believe there is a 3-month warrantee on repairs, and I'm sure there's some leeway involved. Did you ask?

Intermittent outputs aren't a common problem with these units. I surmise they replaced the motherboard, but the problem is with the output circuitry itself. Or vice versa. Don't have a schematic handy, but I think they are separate components linked by connectors.

I just checked the invoice, all they did was replace dvd drive which were ok,
had no problems there. Also they upgraded the firmware and reset system, cleaned all
outputs. will be calling them today.

They probably were not able to reproduce the problem, particularly if it's an intermittent problem, so the unit looked fine to them.

You think it's worth sending it back, i've already spend 150.00 on shipping alone .
