Anybody who's looking for the Iron Throne beer might want to try Ommegang's Beer Locator:

http://www.ommegang.com/#!locator

Although my guess is it isn't an "up to the minute stock locator" but more of a "where we shipped it" locator.

Thanks for that link.

Although there appears to be 3 local sources for this brewery's beer, sadly, Iron Throne doesn't seem to distributed in my area.frown.gif

Not their first appearance in that thread by a long shot. If you dig into the Dexter thread I expect it was mentioned frequently there too.

On Twitter when people have been asking Ommegang when it's coming to their area they've been giving out dates for the rest of the month, so it seems like it's rolling out in stages. So you might wanna check in a week or so, & might not hurt to call the place that the Locator shows as having their stuff in your area.

^^^ apparently Ommegang beer is sold at Costco so maybe they'll get some.

After watching the Season 2 Blu-Rays almost back to back, I've decided that that's the least frustrating way to watch this show--not having to wait a week between every episode. So I'm going to save the episodes and watch them after they've all aired...or maybe save 5, then watch those--and then save the other 5...or maybe save 2...

I cant do that cause too many people around me watch too so i woud hear about it & it gets spoiled.

+ cant go into the online forums then to talk about the show either then.

+ i really just dont have the WILLPOWER to do that anyway. eek.gif

It's hard to argue against it.

Agreed.

Wow. I wouldn't go that far. It's a fine example of the fantasy genre, but that wasn't a terribly high bar prior to this show. 'Rome', for example, was pretty spectacular.

I'm with you on this. I like it but it isn't close to my favorite tv shows of all time.

I agree. I was amazed at how much wonderful stuff I discovered when I watched Season 2 for the second time. The richness and complexity of the show is a joy to behold. Much is told in a line or two or a single image. I think Game of Thrones is in a class with Deadwood and The Sopranos and that's about the highest accolade I can give to a TV show. Its weakness may be that sometimes it is almost too smart for its own good.

Yeah, this show has a long way to go, before it hits Xena levels of perfection.

Well, my opinion of the show is, of course, just my opinion .. there are many great shows, "Rome" being one of them ..

I think in my case I'm looking at it from the entire package perspective and the strange, almost hypnotic ability it has to draw me into the World it creates .. and I do have a jones for the Fantasy genre with LOTR being my favorite set of films .. so I'll admit bias ..

However, no matter the genre, I think we would all agree that GOT is up there at least in the top 10 ..

If you dig the subject matter, I'd say it's hard to argue there's anything better, in the genre.

Rome was the first TV series for which I ever bought a DVD, loved it.

Good point. I enjoy the "Olden Tymes" genre. That's probably why I read so much of Bernard Cornwell and Ken Follett's stuff.

I failed to comment in my earlier post what was the most visually stunning scene I have ever seen in a TV show. The Battle of the Blackwater was wonderfully done. The explosions of the ships looked spectacular and the audio made my room shake. Although there was a lot of CGI, it was was all well done and convincing.

That scene should be placed on all subwoofer test discs ..

and The Grail Quest novels should be required reading ..

Funny, I've been a fantasy fan for nearly 50 years. GOT has never done it for me. Some likeable characters, but for the most part I ended up hating probable protagonists for their stupidity . The gray characters were interesting, but appear so episodically that it's tough to swallow...then a ton of characters that I find not interesting at all, but their stories are interwoven and so bring down the pace of the good stuff. So in short, not a big fan, though the series does have it's high points.

I've kept that episode on my TiVo since it originally aired because of the great images but specifically because of the audio, it's just spectacular.

I admire that you've lived so long tongue.gif ...though I'm only 4 years behind. I'd much rather see a verion of the Black Company starring Ray Stevenson as Croaker and Kevin McKidd in any role than Martin's overblown epic that reminds me more and more of the Wheel of Time series, which started much better, but devolved into drivel.

I think overall the series improves on the books. Which bodes well for the show as it reaches the later ones...Martin could use a good editor smile.gif
