Straight from my shopping cart.

Pioneer VSX-1121-K 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver
Item #:*N82E16882117401
Limited Replacement Only Return Policy
$799.99
$549.99

Get it if you can afford it. NewEgg Pioneer VSX-1121-K link page.

I put this in my cart at Newegg, and it says $799, not $549.. what am I doing wrong?

Is there a price watch thread, where the latest prices for a given product are posted?
If not we should start one. That way everyone who wants Product "X" can at least get it for a $100 or more off M.S.R.P.

Does anyone know how to enter their username for Pandora? After applying the update over the weekend, Pandora showed up fine...just can't get it to accept my username. Pressing 'enter', 'return' etc. doesn't seem to do anything but scroll forward or back to the last character.
The $389 price was for 1021 not the 1121

First time you must say you are a new user and then it will give you an access number. Then go to Pandora's site and sign in and give it the number. It will then recognize you as an old customer and you will bow be able to go back to the reciever screen and sign in.

That sounds a lot more like it.

Does anyone know if you can steam video over Airplay with the 1121?
All of the receivers I have looked at ($600-$1000 range) support only audio over Airplay if they support airplay at all.

Look for an AppleTV 2 on ebay or craigslist for cheap. My brother got one for $70 the other day.
I'm glad I downloaded the manual. Come to find out the unite can't downconvert HD to 480i. It's funny, it can upconver 480i to HD... So to get my analog TV to work with this unite and my DVR and Blue-ray I'm going to have to use the RCA cables and not the HDMI cables. Well at least when I do get a HDTV larger than 25" it will be fully compatable with the VSX-1121-K. At least now I don't have to buy cables I don't yet need.
I have been looking for a receiver for years that could downconvert HDMI Inputs to Component outputs for my 7 year old 65" HDTV. Needless to say I have yet to find a receiver that will do that. I believe they make special Digital-to-Analog converters that can do it, but if recollection serves me they are fairly expensive.

Thanks for your help. I also spoke with Pioneer today and learned that once you enter your id, then hit right arrow twice, then enter password and right arrow twice again, it logs you in. I did this and Pandora is playing fine now.

Does appleTV 2 support airplay at this time or is this something that's coming with iOS 5.0?
Does anyone know if you can use iTunes windows 7 with AirPlay? Or do you have to exclusive use an Apple product, like an iPod. I like the idea of streaming my audio books off my computer. Does any one use AirPlay? If so does it work well over WiFi?
Streaming iTunes via airplay works with Windows or Mac or any of the Apple devices. I have my AppleTV (1st Gen) hooked up via Wireless N and it streams audio and video content flawlessly from both my Macbook Pro as well as my Windows 7 File Server. When it was hacked to do XBMC and Boxee, I had it wired because I was watching movies that were 3-5 GB each and the AppleTV did not do that well.
AppleTV 2 supports Airplay out of the box for audio and video.

Amazon is selling the 1121 at an excellent price right now, but it ships from a company called "Deal Zone".

Amazon is listed as an Authorized Dealer on Pioneer's web site.

Will a ships from Deal Zone be considered "Authorized" I'm very close to pulling the trigger but want the warranty to cover me from defects for whatever period of time it is by Pioneer.

Any insight into this?

Even though you are going through Amazon, I know of other companies that expressly forbid Amazon merchants as authorized sellers. I wouldn't be surprised if Pioneer was the same.

You could email them through Amazon an ask Deal Zone if the Pioneer warranty would still be valid.
If it's a warranty your wanting go to SquareTrade.com. You can get a 3 year warranty for $89.99.
I've used them 9 times and have had to use the warranty twice. My first item (a 4 foot lava lamp) was fixed within a week.
My second item that took a month. It was DVR/DVD recorder and it was no longer made. They gave me the newest/closest to my old DVD recorder
.
I hope that helped.

I would be extremely surprised to see if there was a warranty for this product since Deal Zone is the seller and Amazon is just really processing the order.

If you really want this receiver badly, I would wait until an authorized dealer has a sale or an open box unit.

There is an active Newegg promo code now thru 9/5 for the 1121: -$300 bringing the price at Newegg to $499. Just bought mine

I found about the promo on dealcatcher, sorry but I can't post a URL being too new. Not sure if it is OK to post the promo code either.

My ancient Pioneer is on it's last legs and my wife has been bugging me to get it fixed. I kept saying "the receiver I want will go on sale, just wait a few more days". Glad I did!

Hi all,

I just went to Dealcatcher and the deal has expired!

Amazon has it in-stock (direct Amazon, so authorized) for well below MSRP. Not as sweet of a deal as the newegg one, but still good.

I'm trying to decide between the VSX-1121 and a Denon AVR-2112CI (or possible 2312CI). I have no experience with Pioneer but do with Denon, so not sure what to do. The allure of the iPad app is strong on the Pioneer, but I know I'll ultimately never use it after the first few hours of fiddling with it.

I wouldn't be so sure about that -- have you seen the physical remote on the Pioneer? It's ridiculous, even for an AVR remote. I've been using the iPhone/iPad apps to control mostly. But I suppose if you have a Harmony remote, you'll be good.

Sorry 'bout that. I guess when they said it expired 9/5 that meant only good on 9/4. That is quick! These promos are odd to me. I don't understand why they are structured this way. But, I'm glad I stumbled on it on the right day!

I have a Harmony One, so I use that. I use very little in terms of features via remote with my current Onkyo SR806. Volume and mute on hard buttons, and on the touch screen, I have the audio modes and the general audio button to adjust speaker levels, base level etc. That's about all I really need on a remote. For things I infrequently use, the actual remote or going up to the receiver is no issue,s ince I might need other options only a couple times a year. That being said, the iPad app looks slick, just from a shiny standpoint.

Just ordered one from Amazon. I currently have an Onkyo NR-809 that I bought locally last week. (have 30 days to try it) I can get this Pioneer 1121 for about $240.00 less than I have in the Onkyo. The Onkyo is a nice unit, but it seems that the Audyssey setup is not nailing things very well. I am supposed to get the Pioneer tomorrow. Will hook it up and see how it goes. Any suggestions? Do you guys think the Pioneer is better than the Onkyo? Even if it's a tie I will probably keep the Pioneer and save the cash.

I was all ready to buy the VSX-1121. I got the page where it asked how I wanted to pay for the item and...
(I use Bill Me Later exclusive as my online credit card.)
There I was ready to check out and there was no [BillMeLater] payment tab. What the frak! There was a [PayPal] tab witch had never been on the payment page.
I do have a
PayPal account but I might use it once a year. So on Tuesday had I to link my
Bill Me Later to the PayPal account so the money will come from Bill Me Later.
This will not happen again!!
I checked Tuesday at NewEgg and the [BillMeLater] tab was back and functioning.
If I didn't know better I would start to think someone didn't want me to have the VSX-1121-K at $300 off MSRP.
