The following is my experience with this unit. I have been a long time Pioneer fan, and I am currently rethinking that stance.
I purchased a VSX-1121-K receiver from Amazon on 2-21-12. I installed the receiver and all was working great until 6-10-12. On 6-10-12, I shut the receiver off before leaving the house. When I returned, I could not get any sound or picture from any input. I called Pioneer Support, and after several troubleshooting steps were completed, it was determined that the receiver was in need of repair. I was told to call Protronics in Mt. Pleasant, SC. I took the receiver to them on 6-13-12. To this day, I have not heard anything from them. Every time I have tried to call, I only get a busy signal. This is the first Pioneer product that I have ever had any problems with, and I have bought other receivers, car stereos, speakers, etc. Based on the lack of response from the repair shop, I am getting very worried about my investment. Before you suggest that I go back to the shop, it took me 2 hours to drive there, drop of the unit and return to work. I cannot afford to take a 2 hour lunch whenever I want, nor can I take a vacation day to try to chase down my property from a company that I have no faith in. Please let me know what can be done in this situation. I have always been a fan of Pioneer and your products, and I am afraid that if this is not resolved soon and to my satisfaction that I may have to find another company to purchase my equipment from.
I FINALLY got them on the phone today at 216pm (7-3-12), and I was told that the technician has not even looked at the receiver yet, and that I am the 3rd on the list to be looked at. Thus, he may get to it by Thursday or Friday.
I received a call on 7-12-12 that the receiver was ready. I am not pleased with taking ONE MONTH to repair. However, since I was out of town on this day for a business trip, I was not able to pick up the unit until 7-19-12. I asked the employee at the shop about it, and he said that they saw some faulty connections, and it was working on their bench.
On 7-21-12, I hooked up the unit at home again. After playing my PS3 for an hour, the receiver began to shut of at random times. I checked the troubleshooting guide, and decided to buy banana plugs to make sure there were no loose wire connections. After attaching the speakers via the plugs, the receiver worked the rest of the evening. I shut the unit off about 10pm.
On 7-22-12, I turned the unit on. However, I only had a black screen. I went through the basic options, and I am having the SAME PROBLEM that put the unit in the shop in the first place. I am not getting a picture on the TV, nor am I getting sound from my CD player or iPhone. So in 5 months, this unit has now died twice.
