None of the DVD recorders that have ATSC tuners will output HD. So, scratch that.
The latest crop of ATSC standalone tuners are priced between $100 & $200, which is not much more than an older DBS receiver with an ATSC tuner, and in light of the improved reception performance of the new units, they would be a much better choice.
