Remodeled my basement - pics inside

Took me 1yr start to finish working weekends and some nights here and there. I only farmed out some of the work where friends or family members do this for a living.

I had to gut everything, fix 3 foundation hairline cracks, relocate bathroom, all new electrical & plumbing, replace windows, insulate walls and cieling....you get the picture.

Samsung UN55C6300
Onkyo 608
Monoprice in-ceiling speakers
Bic F-12 sub
Most furniture is from Ikea.
Cielume stratford drop ceiling tiles
X10 lighting
Logitech 650
Trafficmaster allure flooring

Beautiful job done! Please check my link for my basement remodel (4th or 5th page and longer).

The room seems perfect for a dropdown theater screen now in front of the TV, or a fixed screen on the opposite wall? Can we do this? What are the dimensions of this area and what's on the wall opposite of the TV?

The Epson 1080p PJs are awesome (major light cannons, not sure if you need them in a dark basement though), but are priced very well (~$1100). Great starter PJs. Let me know if you have any questions.

I stopped working on my basement because it's spring and I have a lot of outdoor landscaping to work on!

PS - it look like garbage before...=D

Thanks,
Reuben

Agreed! That room is begging for a large screen and a projector!

You guys are killing me! Budget is depleted!

The room is 36'L...and I thought about a projector, but I think the 55" is good enough.

Man, double that, and you've got a nice 110" screen!

Hi bochnak, love your HT and your ceiling, I am considering the same tiles, only in black. I require in ceiling speakers and will be doing can lights too... is there any possibility that you could share some pictures of how you did the install for the speakers/lights above the tile? Your method looks like absolute perfection and I want to get similar results!

Also, separate question - do you have any trouble with these tiles vibrating? I am assuming they won't contain any sound, I was thinking of leaving the old regular tiles on top of the Stratfords to help dampen sound.

Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments! I don't have any pics of the can/speaker install.

For the recessed lighting, you will want to purchase new construction cans. The legs that are intended to mount between joists simply clip on to the grid. There is a height adjustment also, although mine were perfect out of the box.

I used speaker bridges PN # Quam SSB-D6 to support the weight. I had to space the bridges up 1/2" with some 1/2" x 1/2" x 2" blocks (metal, plastic, wood, etc) in order to clear the recessed features of the tile. Also, you will have to use the same blocks between tile and speaker mounting foot. You will need 8 blocks per speaker.

I did not notice any vibration what so ever. I also insulated the ceiling with R-13. I doubt I would have any room for additional tiles above as the grid is 3" below the joists. My buddy installed the grid (he does it for a living) and was able to tuck it up real nice.

The tiles are very easy to work with. Any old scissors will cut them no problem.

Don't order them direct from ceilume. I know a much cheaper place.

I am interested in doing the ceilume ceiling tiles as well. I am curious as well about where you got them cheaper and what you paid per tile. We will be finishing our project shortly. Please send me a PM when you get a moment. Thanks. Your basement looks great.

82" ceiling height to tiles. Joists are 2-3" above that. Typical for basements around here built in the 60's. It's nice to see new construction with 8-9' cielings.
