Swapping and RTV drive loaded with a MythTV loaded drive.

I curious about something and decided to bring it up. I'd to think that someone out there may have tried this, thought about it, or perhaps looked into it. Has anyone ever wanted to play around with their RTV with removing the hard drive loaded with the RTV OS and replace it with a temporary hard drive that has an OS like MythTV on it just to see if it would work with the RTV motherboard and other hardware. If not, what would be the issues preventing it from using another Linux type OS. I'm sure that someone might say something like why bother, but I would just be curious for such things like what would happen if the TV grid wasn't being supported someday. Of course, there could be a few other possible reasons to be curious. I don't know, so that why I'm asking.

The RTV doesn't use a Linux-type operating system. It uses very specialized hardware, and uses a customized operating system by Wind River. It would not be possible to get a Linux-type operating system running on the RTV without writing a lot of specialized drivers, which would require a lot of hardware information...
