Either of the tv's outputs are limited to stereo and pro logic(dolby 4.0 can be encoded in the signal)unless you are using the tv's tuner then you can get 5.1 sound.

Those look almost unnoticeable, do you actually see the spots while watching TV or BD? There not dead pixels, dead pixels are usually black.

When you read the manual, it states that the return is only stereo.
This was a disappointment for me also.
This is why I am looking to upgrade to a new Pioneer 1021.

Ok. I thought that was only with the optical out. Bummer.

Thinking about purchasing the 65vt30 and was wondering can I expect an improvement over my Pioneer KRP-500m monitor? How does the black level compare? Only reason I'm switching is because 50" isn't that big to me anymore.

Thanks

The black level won't be better than the 500m by a long shot. Only reason i keep putting off buying a bigger display than my 50" G9 Kuro is nothing is as good at this time.

It is almost never visible on viewing material. But what is it? Should it be there?

Thanks.

What do they call pixels that are always on?

Stuck pixels, but that bright spot is not anything like what a stuck pixel is.

Why worry about something that you can't see on normal viewing material? There is nothing to be concerned about.

Did you play a game with a static image or logo in that area? It looks like fading image retention to me. Its easy for someone else to say "its nothing to worry about" because its not theirs. I'm very anal about these things too, its expensive and you want it prefect, so I totally understand where youre coming from!

No games ever and have been very careful with image retention and break-in. Maybe it's been there since I got it but I was too distracted by the FB issue. Now that it's fixed, I don't want to get it fixed or replaced again!

Gonna run Disney's pixel flipper for a few hours and see if it gets rid of it.

The TC-P65VT30 is a great display but the black levels will not be as good as the Pionner. In all other aspects the Panasonic does quite well. "Most" people would be happy with the Panasonic as long as they do not mind a loss in black level capabilities.

I've played around with the 50VT30A where I work and it looks incredible once tweaking around with the display settings (however the bright lighting in the shop still makes it less than ideal). However, I still don't think it's worth me upgrading over my G9 Kuro yet (since I paid $4k for it almost 3 years back!)

I'm hoping next year they can surpass the mighty Kuro!

I may jump on a 65VT30 once the prices come down another $500. Still in no hurry to sell my G9 Kuro.

Has anyone bought a TV from Amazon before. The price on the 65vt30 is the cheapest I've seen and was thinking about ordering from them.

That is a good price. Don't think i could ever trust having a large plasma shipped. I think the price will come down even more by Xmas.

Unless they make them in the store every plasma gets shipped one time or another in it's life. plus if it's damaged when you receive it then it'll get replaced.

Just make sure you're really buying from Amazon, not one of its associated market places.

Yes and Amazon has a 30 day no ?s asked return policy if you don't like it. They ALSO pay for the return shipping.

I would rather pay more and buy one from my Local high end A/V store and have it brought to the house and placed on my stand. Sure as heck don't wanna go thru a shipping nitemare mess and returning a broken set.

Another happy customer buying from Amazon, this was my very first purchase online a little over 2-years ago and not at the local Best Buy. BB was asking $2599.99 for a Samsung 52" 750 Series LCD. Amazon was selling it for $2035 and with no sales tax, and you have a 30-day no questions asked return policy!! I'll be dealing with them again in the future!
