Thank you. I am going with what people are saying for the most part and try one more time. Going with crutchfield as amazon will not price match them. If not for the IR I feel that I can be happy enough with this set considering what else is currently available. Wish me luck.

Wow, playing Mass Effect 3 on this TV is pleasing.

I love my VT

And please dont start talking about my viewing habbits being the culprit. My kuro is set the same way and never a hint of IR.

I must admit that I've had the "menu" issue as well. When I first got my VT30, I had this issue, but after running the slides overnight for a couple nights it was completly gone. However, everytime you go into the menu it leaves the IR there again. This is not burn in, but just stubborn IR. It does fade with time. Right now, I have a faint hint of the word menu, however, looking directly on the screen from any viewing position with regular content, it is not noticeable anywhere. Even from 2 inches from the screen, looking dead on at it, it's not noticeable. The only way I can see it is to basically be looking down at the tv from inches away (so the viewing angle gets worse and the colors dull down) and then I can faintly make it out. But not while looking dead on at the screen, even right at the height of where the word would be. So really it's a non issue for me as it can't be seen at all while looking at the screen from a normal viewing angle, even from inches away.

I've also had the photo contros show IR too, but that goes away as well. Overall this is a great tv. No IR from games, just the odd bit from tv. Had IR on my Kuro as well, so it's not a big deal. It does go away with time.

Well BB is delivering another one tomorrow. I will check the manufacture date on that one and will only exchange it if it's an updated one. Other that that, I will play some blu rays tonight and see if I can see any fluctuation.

Thanks

PS: You may wish to search for "htwaits" on this forum for a list of qualified calibrators for the VT 30 who service your area.

Didn't know that about the calibrators, thanks for the tip. I'm going to be looking for one in the LA area soon.

I went through the same thing. My MENU was burnin. As hard as I tried I could not get rid of it. It did fade a little though after a 2 weeks. I ended up exchanging the set. I know I spent a lot of time "calibrating" 3D which runs very bright. I suspect that's where most of the damage was done. Of course the next time around I stayed out of the menu as much as possible for the first 100 hours and kept the contrast low. Even now when I go into the menu, I get in and out as fast as possible ... Good luck with set 2. My only (minor) issues with this TV are the green and pink patches and the fan noise, but overall I am enjoying the set.

Besides the IR, the only little things that bother me are that I do have a hot spot the size of a grape fruit in the lower left that I only really see in slides and the buzzing on mine is definitely louder than I am used to with my past plasmas. I can hear it clearly at 12 feet and low volume. I honeslty do not hear my fans at all. You may have a bit of a lemon in that category. It is interesting how many bays they provided for fans yet only used a couple of them.

I do see a bit of pink on grey slides on the perimeter but I have not seen a VT30 without that and it does not seem to play out during content.

Hopefully the next set will be a jewel and have less of these issues.

I wish someone could find a POT or something that would reduce the limiter during white screens. I can't help but think these larger sets are crippled due to energy star guide lines rather than electronic capabilities.

I can be in May or later. Your choice but I recommend you wait until you are over 1500 hours to get the best benefits of the recal.

Hey dnice, or anyone else, what's the deal with the wicked screen judder/ motion blur when gaming on this tv? Using xbox 360 and noticed it with skyrim and Gears of war 3 which runs at 30 fps

Nope nothing

Playing Fifa is also amazing on this TV. In Fifa the screen moves a lot so you'd expect to see the things you refer to if I had any of these issues. Running my screen at 50hz while gaming.

Btw, am I the only one who doesn't prefer Intelligent Frame Creation? I actually don't like it at all (I think).

Well I got my curbside delivery of my second 65vt30 within 48 hours of placing order. Outstanding service from Crutchfield. Unfortunately, old eprom and even worse was a cluster of dead pixels. I am so glad I only allow myself to upgrade every 3-4 years. Its so frustrating trying to buy something that is defect free nowadays. Hopefully next set will be here as quick.

If only Amazon would price match them. I have yet to call them and get them to do it.

You can purchase from Amazon and price match to US Appliance. There's a thread in the Plasma great deals found section. See link below

Just got my 65VT30 delivered and setup. When I go into the picture settings my Pro Settings menu is greyed out. Any idea why this would be greyed out, and how I can go about accessing it?

On another note, so far the TV is flawless. October 2011 build date, 84.46 EPPROM, FW 2.2, No pink/green blobs, no dead pixels, no buzzing and very little fan noise.

***UPDATE***

I received my exchange from BB yesterday and am happy to report that they delivered one with a serial # of MJ2026**** and a build date of January 2012. Have been watching several blu rays and looks awesome in THX mode. I was able to see the FBr on the one they took back while watching Imax Hubble. It's non existent on my new set. Don't know If I'll be doing the slides for the first 100 hours because I also own (2 years) the TC-P50G and did not do the slides and so far so good. Use it mostly for movies and some video gaming.

I bough my 65vt30 from a local high end A/V store called, Audio visions south. I paid more than i would have online, but they unboxed the tv and ran it for 34 hours to make sure everything worked fine.

There was just no way i wanted to take a chance and have a vt30 shipped to me and worry about damage or a bad set.

Many online merchants have excellent return policies

I'm sure they do. Just not worth it in my book.

Well finished up the slide run today. just setup the 65vt30 with the setting D-nice provides and all I can say is wow. what a set, the detail is very crisp. All my blu-rays look fantastic through my Oppo 93 player. HD stations via comcast looks very crisp as well. Standard def is passable but it's clear this set is made for HD. Didn't buy the set for 3D but pretty amazed. I only have Tron Legacy in 3D, but it was just as good as seeing it in the movies.

Think I read through about 90% of these posts here, thanks for helping pull the trigger. I think maybe with a January build, I got a good set. Firmware was up to date already. Thanks D-Nice for the advanced settings, no way would I have been able to do that on my own.

I really can't imagine calibration doing that much more to the set, I mean it feels like I was at Doral today playing with Tiger Woods that's how clear the picture was.

P.S. Wife, wife's friends, neighbors, and in-laws thought I was strange running the set for 100 hours on the slides. But it was worth the wait.

As long as you are happy, thats what matters!

I had problems with my first online shipment but they took care of everything. Buying locally does have its own advantages though.

Much of that buying decision depends on how much value you put on peace of mid..
