Absolutely! I run it at least every other day, and usually right when I start up the TV. I run the other stuff in between viewing sessions or just turn one of those (slides/pixel flipper) on in the morning and have run it all day.

That stinks. I ran the D'angelo color slides for 200 hours to break mine in, and even after a calibration, and a touch up, it still had IR like crazy. Nothing that would last for days, but my Oppo logo would stay on the screen through the first several minutes of a movie.

Wow sorry to hear that guys.

My weapon hud on ME3 is also visible after a few hours of gaming but they are gone after a few minutes of bar or running Avatar on my BR for example.

I use the Gaming mode setting and have Pixel Orbiter activated.

Quite annoyed by the fact that I have to think about it though. Will always have to think about huds while playing new games. And ME multiplayer I can't just play for 5+ hours if I wanted to because that would most likely damage my TV. However I am still very happy with my TV, but perhaps a LCD Led would be OPTIMAL for someone like me that can easily game the whole day lol.

@Nizyo, what kind of settings do you have for Game mode? I've just been using D-Nice's Custom settings for everything and they've been awesome (haven't noticed any lag or anything).

Is Game mode even worth adjusting or using on this display?

As the camera flash is in the roof and very bright, it would likely show on the entire picture being broadcasted on tv. Even at the games in person, those flashes can get annoying.

I hope your right. I'm in the same boat as petezac. Just bought new 65VT30 based on Panasonic reputation, because my DLP died after 6 yrs. I am noticing flicker durning hockey games and it's bothering me. I have been monitoring the issue. I don't think it's camera flash. There are times it does not happen at all. I begining to think it has to do with cable singnal. I've seen games (two playing at same time on different channels) where there is flicker on one game but not other. I continue to monitor situation before I call Panasonic to see if anything can be done with settings that will help. I'm understanding from these threads there is no fix for this if you have latest firmware and eeprom. Kind of hoping as set breaks in will go away in time. Lol what are the chances of that happening.

I wasn't sure what to think when first watching sports but it was my son who pointed out when watching NCAA Basketball the screen is flashing and sure enough it was. Its Hockey I mostly watch so started searching this forum as well as searching Net to see about what's causing and I found following 3 links that talk about this stuff from 4 years ago. I think there is some truth to the Photo Flash causing but why do not all new modern Tv sets do it or do they and people are just putting up with it.
I am not sure if its a deal breaker yet as the set sure looks totally awesome on Bluray's. I have a couple of games to watch tonight and tomorrow so will see if any more flash/flickering happening. On looking back at other games I have on my Pvr the times when flicker happened did correspond to which could have been Photo op opportunities as it was either during a big hit or a good scoring chance when it happened.

I couldn't post links till after 3 posts, so following post has links.

I have the 65VT30 and 3 lcd's and all of them do this while watching hockey and basketball. It also did it on my dlp I once had. Most people probably don't notice it. I don't notice it any more after I watch for awhile.

Good luck with finding decent shipping costs if you're serious. I wanted to SAFELY ship a VT25 to Arizona from Wisconsin and it was almost half the value of the TV.

I have not seriously looked into it because I will try to sell it locally, however, a friend of mine owns a company that ships a lot of freight, and I could ship it through his account for about $100. due to the volume they do. But I'm looking into a local sale for convenience sake.

Just using the standard settings with -3 in Brightness. Might move it back to 0 soon. Lowered it in the beginning because of IR and such.

Anyone here that didn't use any break in slides and still tried D-nice settings? I'm tempted to see if it can work without running the slides. I ran Avatar and some other movies for 100hrs + for example.

I finally noticed this last night while trying to look for it and it is from the professional camera flashes. Those guys can take over 200 photos a game. I can confirm that this is not a tv issue. Both my plasmas do this. Even my old Kuro showed this. It's just you get used to it as I've never noticed it until trying to find it. When going back on the PVR and the flashes are in the same place and in slow motion, it's from the source.

Since the P65VT30 comes with one pair of glasses... do you buy an exact brand to make the one panasonic sends ? Or do you purchase different glasses...

Mark, thanks for your reply. That's what I thought, this would have to be happening on all tv's and I guess one can get used to it after a while.
My only Lcd tv is a 4 year old model and think its a 16 ms response time so it has motion blur so I avoid watching Hockey on this tv, leave this Tv for my wife so she can watch her Oprah,Ellen etc.

Your TV will not burst into flames. Dear Lord, try the settings - if you like the way it looks GREAT. If not change something. People need to understand that doing everything DNICE said to do does not guarantee YOU will like the way the picture looks.

Trying the settings without the slides will NOT destroy your TV.

And, most importantly - don't OBSESS. Whenever your picture looks great to YOU, stop playing with it. When you are happy, stop. In fact, when you are happy I suggest not reading this site for a year or so - seriously.

Yep--also I read a Sports Illustrated article one time that noted that in many arenas, the sports photographers have overhead lights installed in the stadium as well. One can easily imagine how that might affect the picture when that flash bounces off the ice during hockey games.

No, there are several makes of glasses that work fine. However, I find the latest generation of Panasonic glasses to be lightweight, easy to wear over specs, and hold a lock extremely well. I couldn't be happier.

With all these reports of IR, I'm certain it must be due to sample differences, settings, and usage patterns.

(FWIW, I've never run had to reuse the slides or the scrolling bar--no visible IR on the set. It would drive me to LCD to have to do this every other day. )

The glasses that come with the tv are 2nd gen. 3rd gen are available now but are in short supply, another batch will be released and that's it. I have two pair of the newer style and I highly recommend them, very light and the mediums fit many size heads. Some folks are reporting getting them for around 60 dollars. There's a few other brands that will work also. I think there's a thread in the 3D section here and in the plasma section at HDJ. The tv uses InfraRed tech unlike the newer(2012) that uses BlueTooth(4th gen).

Trying to bring this to closure - arenas have strobe lights installed in the rafters. If you've ever been at even a cheap studio, a strobe light (in this context) is the big light they attach an umbrella or softbox to. There are usually several sets of lights. Credentialed photographers can 'rent' access to the lights - the lights are triggered by an attachment to the camera's hot-shoe. Given that there are several sets of lights and each 'firing' sets off multiple strobes this is why you see those bright flashes. Basketball arenas use them too - just not as much reflection - AND with the latest crop of cameras, pros no longer need to use them in basketball arenas as much.

To answer my own inquiry and for the record in case anyone else needs to know, the optical Digital Out jack on the VT30 is in fact a "Mini-Toslink" connector jack.

That's cool--thanks for the info.

Question: how do they hook up to the strobe lights? Is it a wireless connection?

RF controlled - usually by a device called a "pocket wizard" Transmitter goes on the camera and receiver goes on the strobes. The devices support multiple channels. They give the shooter the transmitter and tell them which channel to use. Sets of strobes are set up for each channel.
