I can report back that the remote control is still not working completely properly in the latest patch when using Cinema Mode (within 7MC).

The problem I've found is with the menu button. In past versions of PDVD this would pop-up a menu to select which menu to go to (e.g. root, top, pop-up). What happens in the latest patch is that it pops-up behind PDVD without focus so you can't see it. Oddly, clicking the mouse anywhere on the screen brings it to the front. If you don't do this then after using the menu button on the remote none of the other remote keys will work.

The other problem I have is that the "Eject" menu no longer works with VCD mounted .iso's. This worked in all previous versions of PDVD so it's sort of annoying as there's now no way to unmount an .iso. Not a deal breaker but still.

I've also found their iPhone/iPad remote to be pretty flaky too.

Just upgraded my amp to Pioneer SC-LX73 hdmi 1.4a (elite 35). HDMI goes from 6950 to amp then to my TV.

Latest Catalyst 11.5b.

PowerDVD 11 cant do 3D when connected through HDMI 1.4a amp. My Sony S570 blu-ray player does it just fine!

I'm going to post this here since there seems to be a lot of PDVD 10 users around, and the PDVD 10 thread seems to be dead. I had read that in 11 Cyberlink has put BDMV folder playback in. I know that the last time I updated 10 (2701 I think) it broke ISO playback. Have they released an update to 10 that restores ISO playback and adds BDMV folder playback?

Yes, they just released an update to 10 that fixes that in theory. I wasn't able to install the update. Apparently once I installed the PDVD11 trial it broke my 10 install. The update to 10 said it couldn't be installed. I wasn't in the mood to reinstall 10 (I had the update version, so, it's a HUGE pain to reinstall) so I simply ended up buying 11 outright with the 10% off code so that I can have a clean install again. I've been using the PDVD11 video decoder on my main HTPC anyway for MC16, so, I felt the purchase was fair. In any case, the update to 10 specifically mentions Virtual Drives being fixed.

Hey guys, I am trying to figure out if I'm going to purchase 11 or put my copy of 10 on my new build. The determining factor is whether or not you can now play files in cinema mode. Anyone know?

$100 for a slightly updated interface... And decoding of 96kHz audio still doesn't work without crackles and pops.

Cinema mode still won't play BD iso from my WHS BOX w/ PDVD11 Ultra - same error as 10 - "unsupported file type". I really do not like this software

What virtual drive are you using? I use Virtual Clone Drive without problems with 10, except when Cyberlink broke it with update. But I reverted back and its fine again. Plus if you see a few posts up they have supposedly fixed 10 with an update.

I use VCD as well. 10 & 11 work fine as standalone players - it's their shoddy implementation of 'Cinema Mode' that ruins it for me. Using MyMovies in 7MC, you can't disable CinemaMode, and it won't play a BD ISO.

So is 11 worth upgrading to from 9, when I don't have 3D? I have a couple of issues lately with PowereDVD 9, such as:

* When I first put in a bluray, it stops saying it is in disc mode. I have to start it twice, and the second time it asks if I want to continue or restart.
* HD audio never sticks. I have to switch to PowerDVD decode then back to HD source to get the HD audio to light up on my Onkyo TX-SR608

both of these issues are incredibly annoying. I had to revert to old ATi drivers to even get HD audio (it wouldn't switch no matter what with newer drivers, at least about 3 months ago). I would like to have more current drivers on my video card if possible.
The latest build of 11 is now working pretty well for me - fixed the issue in 7MC not playing ISOs. You can download the trial of 11 Ultra and install it with 9 - supposedly it's non-destructive when installing/uninstalling.

Will 11 play PGS subs in file mode? I see it has MKV support now, so wondered if that includes PGS subs support. Likewise will it now play PGS subs from M2TS files in File mode?

I bought PDVD11 a few days ago. Installed it and it works great!!
Except when my HTPC goes to sleep.

Once it resumes from sleep PDV11 says "Cyberlink Helper Stopped working." Asks me to respecify the region and then give me an error code and tells me me to contact tech support.

Windows tells me its a Data Execution Prevention issue. For the life of me I could not find any .exe or .dll which contains the phrase CLhelper or helper.

I contacted tech support and they want a PrintScreen of the error, now they want a copy of the DxDiag and ask me if I running the latest AMD drivers.

Now the strange thing is that, this problem ONLY occurs when I resume from sleep. If I reboot the machine once I see this message, PDVD11 works really well...but the computer CANNOT fall asleep or I gotta reboot.

This is Vista x64/HD 5670 box and has been successfully running PDVD10 and TMT5.

So my question is is there any point trusting CyberLink tech support? Can anyone here shed some insight? And how do I get a refund from these guys if this problem does not go away. I did'nt shell out $98 just to reboot my box to play a BD.

Sorry guys but this is a bit off the topic of current discussion, although it does relate to PDVD11.

I'm using PDVD 11 within WMC (W7 Ultimate 32bit). I'm trying to have it as a remote only set-up (although I do have a wireless mouse on standby at all times.....). With v1715 most things seem to be working fine, but how do I get to any of the blu-ray menus using just the remote? Which key on the standard WMC remote is mapped to BD menu selection?. This is probably very simple, but it just seems to be eluding me, and I can't find any documentation for it.

Many thanks

It would be the menu key....but, there is a bug in PDVD 11 where the menu key will not work unless you jiggle a mouse to bring up the PDVD controls in the lower right hand corner first. They've promised a fix but it hasn't been released yet.

Thanks. I won't hold my breath

I have and it has fixed most of the remote issues, but not the menu button unfortunately.

Is there any alternative to PowerDVD?
WinDVD looks promising for a cheaper solution, TMT5 seems about the same price/function. Google shopping came up with a few sellers claiming new, and sounding fishy, cheap PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D.

Whats TMT5?
Arcsoft product like PowerDVD.

I just bought and installed my first BD drive a cheap LG that came with PDVD8 BD oem (2 ch only), and I am feeling a bit cranky with the notion that I immediately need an upgrade that costs the full price of buying the software new ($98) which is almost double the cost of the drive and software.

Thinking best route is live with it a bit until something forces the issue, or a sale happens.
What do they mean? PDVD11 has Lossless HD Audio (HDMI 1.4 support) and PDVD10 doesn't? I thought PDVD10 supported all the HD audio formats. My receiver says it getting an DTS-Master audio track. Is that not Lossless?

Yes, the paid alternative and better choice for PDVD is TMT5...

I swore cyberlink isn't getting a dime off me ever again...

Cyberlink appears to be more "holier than thou" when it comes to following hollywood rules... they have the knack of producing a well featured player that gets crippled over the time with updates... I have PDVD7 -> PDVD10 licenses, so I'm pretty sure what I'm talking about...

If you have some time to convert your stuff to MKV, a free and much better alternative is the MPC-HC + LAV + madVR.
You can use the above with LAVCUVID if you have one of the latest NVIDIA GPUs.
Just take a look in this thread - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1338724
I currently use TMT5 only for 3D Blu-Ray playback only...

I'm trying to keep all options open until the whole home theater is done (if its ever done done), but ripping to MKV skipping direct playback of BD on the HTPC, and using a stand alone for the rare times when I want disc playback is growing on me.

That setup plays disks, too. Movie only right off the disc. I use the pdvd11 video decoder in my setup for amd videocards.

I'm test driving the pdvd 11 trial, and it looks like they still have a major UI blunder that I also saw in the pdvd 10 trial.

Where is the one setting for always bitstream the best audio regardless of whether it is a BD or DVD? If you have it setup right for BDs, then when you switch to a DVD it will decode to PCM. If you go back into the menus and change it so that it will bitstream the DD or DTS on a DVD, then when you play a BD, it will bitstream just the core DTS audio instead of DTS-HDMA.

Don't tell me that this problem is too difficult for Cyberlink to solve.
It goes back all the way to PDVD9 I'm afraid. We've gotten no traction on getting them to fix it through 3 versions. At this point, I've given up hope that it'll change. In order to change it to HD bitstreaming, you need to be playing a Blu-ray and then change the audio properties while it's playing. How stupid is that? sigh.
Quite surprised to see people still pay for cybercrap products with all other existing and available solutions... including freeware...

I use TMT5 for 3D BR only... the rest is taken care of by MPC-HC + LAV + LAVCUVID + madVR...

Life never felt so good with cyber$#1+ out of my system...

I've been testing 1719 with ATi 11.5b's and so far I haven't seen any hitching in 2D or 3D mode. They say this version has .mkv support and also DD+ I'll test this a little further down the road. I highly doubt it will play back my HD DVD .mkv containers with DD+ tracks smooth. Or it will play it back but no sound like in earlier versions of 10. But so far everything seems to work pretty good. My Harmony 720 can scroll the BD menus and start the movie but no ff/rw functions. I'll have to play around with it a little more to see which buttons on my remote if any will work. I'm using HDPlex's IR receiver with no front end, I basically just use it to power on my rig and mouse my way around I have no interest in any GUI Front Ends the only one that came close was Boxee but they still have a ways to go.

I've tested the 11.7's and it breaks my 3d playback in extended mode, and my Pioneer SC-07 ain't going anywhere so I have to do it this way for BD 3D/Lossless. Display port goes straight to TV from the HD 6850 so I get TV speakers for late night with the AVR off and BD 3D also works using the display port adaptor. 11.7's do work if I have it set up this way straight to TV but that defeats the purpose of lossless and breaks my 3D so 11.5b's are as far as I can go to get BD 3D in extended mode.

I also have a lot less issues with PDVD 11 compared to 10 using ATi, nVidia was really never an issue if at all as far as general playback.
I tested some .mkv files with DD+ tracks and no go on DD+ just plain old vanilla or nothing at all meaning no sound. Best it can do on my end is vanilla Dolby and PCM, won't bitstream True HD and dts HD MA either. So far this build is playing nice with my HD 6850 and can honestly say I'm done fiddling with my rig. Took a while to find a working solution ever since I put in my 6850 but it's all good now and really have no complaints.

DD+ lights up when playing back previews, but I still can't figure out why they implemented this due to no BD movies have DD+ just the trailers. It seems to really serve no purpose unless they are planing on streaming some kind of content like Vudu through the GUI.
I'm testing .mkv 2D/3D conversion playback and I must say they really improved this feature. I also tested folder playback and that's working for BD's as well. Now back to Alice in Wonderland.
