Sapphire HD 6450 or 6670 on C2D HTPC

Thread Starter
I just purchased Renethx's excellent buyer guide and am hesitating between getting a passively cooled Sapphire HD 6450 card or a fan cooled Sapphire HD 6670 for my aging system (E2180 running at 2.67GHz on a P35 motherboard).

I suspect video quality is better on the higher end card, but I am concerned about the noise (I'm coming from a passively cooled Geforce 8600 GT, and should add that my intel processor is also passively cooled)

Any experience with these cards or word of wisdom to help make this choice? Thanks!

If you're not running games, then the 6450 is plenty.

The CPU won't be a bottleneck, since if most of the work should be done by the GPU.
You've got the PCI Express x16 lane which it requires on the motherboard (from what I see).

The video quality isn't likely to be better on the higher end card. Someone else can comment on this though.

skullan,
Thanks for your response. My question was actually two pronged:
- How quiet is the Sapphire HD6670
- Is video quality noticeably better with it (knowing that I'm using some good displays: a JVC DILA HD750 projector and a full HD monitor)? and if so, for in which circumstances?

While it's not Sapphire, here's Silent PC Review's take on the 6670 and they do a good job (normally do) at reporting on sound levels. http://www.silentpcreview.com/amd-6570-6670
