I've found a rather useful accessory for the JVC GS-TD1 camcorder. I'm used to using a proper viewfinder, but the JVC GS-TD1 only has a flip out LCD display. It's a nice display, but is washed out in sunlight making it difficult to set exposure levels.
I found this Hoodman accessory for the Sony EX1 that fits the JVC GS-TD1 rather well.

I got a chance to use it today at the Los Angeles Renaissance Fair. By mid afternoon, the sun had made seeing the LCD a problem at the fair's outdoor stages. Strapping on the Hoodman solved that problem nicely. The LCD was sharp and I could easily set my exposure levels. The display comes with a focus adjustment solving another problem my 50 year old eyes have. With the LCD alone, I need strong reading glasses.
The display is rubber and fabric so doesn't scratch the LCD surface. It is somewhat heavy so I take care not to overstress the LCD hinge. Of coarse, it's inconvenient to have to remove it to access the menu, but at certain locations, it's utility makes that inconvenience worth it.
