Need help in Dallas (Frisco)

I need help. A couple of years ago, I bought a Sanyo Z60 projector. From the get go, this unit has been horrible and I barely use my media room anymore because of it. The short version is that I am unable to focus blue, red and green at the same time. When I put an image with those colors on the screen, red is relatively focused, green is out of focus, and blue is WILDLY out of focus. After watching for a while, the time depends on if there is text on the screen, my eyes start to water and I get a headache.

The unit is still under warrany and I have sent the unit back to sanyo 3 times and they just keep sending it back to me saying nothing is wrong. If anyone can take a look at this thing in person and tell me I am not losing my mind. Apparently Sanyo and I are just not speaking the same language or my expectations are just wrong. When I show lines of red blue and green, I expect to see pixels not giant blobs. It is just a principal thing at this point, the projector was not that expensive but this thing is just unusable.

And those letters are about 3 - 4 inches tall, making the halo around an inch tall.

It's difficult to fathom what's going on here. The way the optics are designed and assembled, if one color is in focus, they ALL are in focus. You're describing something that mechanically and optically, is just not possible.

If this were an old 3 gun CRT projector, I could see that. Each color is independent, but with an LCD projector, all 3 LCD screens are fixed in place to the optical prism. There is no way to focus one independent of the other two.

Let's try this. Look at the projector menu. Is it clear or is it also affected? I'm guessing it's clear and that means that the problem is probably source-related. Have you tried different sources, different cables? Do a bit of troubleshooting to narrow down the cause. What is your source and how are you connecting it? Depending on your set-up, there could be a number of things going on.

One more thing...Sanyo has seen it 3 times and found nothing wrong. That strongly suggests you have a source or cabling issue.

I see it regardless of source, but it happens both on my XBOX (both HDMI and Component) and my PC (HDMI native res). I have noticed it from my couch in a movie before - a blue halo over someones head.

Colors focusing at different lengths is called chromatic aberration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatic_aberration

If there is a problem with the optics, it will be apparent in the projector menu.

Will take a shot of that when I get the projector back from sanyo.

Here are the after pics using a different dvi to hdmi cable and a laptop - http://www.filedropper.com/sanyopostqrp , I dont notice a difference. I do notice that the "glow" does change depending on how I mount the projector. If i set the projector dead center of the screen it glows all around the object. As I lens shift, all the glow moves to either the top or the bottom.

Notice that I CAN focus both red and blue, but not at the same time, though blue is worse (i got one decent shot of it but blue is VERY hard to see and the Z60 doesnt have remote focus).

The folder marked single pixel text shows what text looks like on my screen when playing games. It is BRUTAL on my eyes.

The pics didn't work for me, but it sounds like it's chromatic abberation in combination with convergence in combination with geometric distortion of how you mount it.

You sound like a candidate for a DLP projector, the Mits hc4000 is one that comes to mind.
