my same experience. I am hoping someone figures out where it went or how to see it. I also could not easily find the Cal day/night mode to turn on or off. But to be honest I was more focused on the hours and did not look all that hard for that.

instead I have tracked on paper or my head, I am up to about 60 hours. I am almost ready to try some custom settings, I think I will wait a few more days.

Thanks, zoyd. I'll make a note of it.

And also, I apologize to all that I gave outdated information.

Not really outdated, just complicated by the fact that some service menu items are not available unless you have a "factory remote" - special remote that technicians have. I have discovered another way to access these hidden fields including hours used (474 on my TV) and I will describe the steps below. If you decide to browse these additional options please be careful not change anything since you can damage your TV.

1. Download and install the program "ruSamsungTVCommunicator" from here

2. Turn on your TV and start the program, it should locate the TV and you can use it for remote control with the "Fernbeidenung" tab to make sure it's connected.

3. Turn off the TV.

4. Press Mute - 1 - 8 - 2 - Power to start service menu

5. Reconnect with ruSamsungTVCommunicator

6. Press "Factory" and then "3Speed"

All extra menu fields will now be available. I had some trouble with step 5 in that it took a few minutes for the TV to appear on my LAN again but eventually it worked. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the factory remote, zoyd. It works like a charm on my D7000. (Thankfully, I still remember my German from undergrad school.)

How in the world did you find that neat program?

Yes. That program slipped right by me.

Just a warning to novices. With this program, you can brick your TV if you start "exploring" without knowing what you are doing.

That is pretty cool but I am going to skip that. I am not an expert, I am pretty sure I saw a beta in there somewhere, and I don't speak a lick of German.

Maybe if there is an English version I will give it a shot. but Great to know this information is being shared!

The german program is not dangerous in itself, it just allows for wireless remote control of the TV. The dangerous bit is that the person who wrote it knows the keycode for tech only access when you put the TV in the service menu but if you stay out of the SM you'll be fine.

As an example of the bad things that can happen through SM experimentation I was curious to know if the PVR function could be enabled on US sets, (This allows you to record tuner content to a USB for later playback), so I changed the region to KOR (korea) and yes, the PVR function worked. However, I lost Cal D/N modes, colors were way off, and I couldn't get back into the SM to change it back. Luckily I figured out another way to get into the SM.

Zoyd,

Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to post your cal settings. Of all the ones posted, yours to me were the best. I found the factory settings made colors too aggressive and the whites too white.

Proud owner of a new pn59d8000. And aside from the occasional brightness pop, this TV is incredible.

Thanks again.

Glad to hear they worked out well for you. I'm going to post a 500 hour calibration (since I can now locate panel hours ), probably this weekend.

Game Mode? Where is this Game Mode on the 7000?

I've seen some guys post about it, but now that I've got my TV I don't see it?

Hit menu
System
Scroll down....general and you should see it
post #976 of 3248
Would you guys recommend to watch only full screen sources for a new set?
Never use game mode, I find I don't need it.
I use Game Mode for playing xbox 360 and it seems to be very colorful and bright which I like. Somethings may seem washed out to some people but I like it overall. I have also heard very good things about using the CAL-Day mode for games. I am still only about 70 hours in to my TV so I am just using factory Standard for most of my viewing. Once I hit about 100 hours on the TV then I will try calibrated settings.
My opinion on game mode is mixed. It is placed at an awkward location in the menu and disables most calibration features. However, it also reduces input lag noticeably. This is most obvious when moving the PC mouse around the screen. Without game mode, lag is quite noticeable. With it enabled, it's almost as responsive as on my computer monitor.

I do enable game mode for twitch response games like shooters and keep it disabled for the slower games like RPGs.

For reference, I have the PN59D8000

1. I've applied the CNET settings to the HDMI1 source where I have my cable box connected. Should I use the same settings for other sources such as my PS3? I use my PS3 for both games and blu-rays.

2. Do I need to use the same or different settings for 3D mode? It seems like the 3D settings are different than the non-3D mode for a given source. As expected the image looks a bit darker with glasses so I'm not sure if I should tweak this a bit (contrast, cell light, etc).

3. Should I be using the RGB Full Range setting on my PS3 to Full or Limited? From what I've read, this should be configured in conjunction with the TV's HDMI black level (set to Normal right now), but I'm not sure what is the right setting here or what I should be looking for to make sure it's right.

Thanks for your help, and I'd appreciate any other suggestions you have for me to get the most out of my setup!

yea interested. I got cal-day and cal-night available. I then set up my movie setting to Zoyd's and watched some The Walking Dead last night. I think I have to get used to the warmer feel of this setting as opposed to standard which has much more blue in it.

I would be interested in your settings / colorspace using TivoHD settings. I may try those settings on the Relax setting.

Why read page 1 when it's so much easier to ask lol.
Ok, so I've tried several of the settings listed on page 1 and think I've found one I like. Can't remember who's settings they were, but it was the settings in the 3rd column.

I'd like to know what settings people use for their day/night settings. I haven't seen anyone post that in the 100's of pages I've searched.

Ask here: ISF Calibrators, where are you located? Please post here!

EDIT: I notice that it took 15 minutes after your request to get a reply from one of the best pro calibrators.
