X Factor officially postponed until tomorrow night at 8. Fox made the right call considering the delay in the ball game.

This is really a semi-disaster for X Factor. If they're going to try to raise ratings this season, they HAVE to have a regular time slot. They were already showing next week's X Factor on Tuesday due to the World Series being on Wednesday and Thursday. This also means that they don't have a decent night to place the extra episode. So either they push it all back (with more potential World Series problems the following week), or they do some fast editing and edit those upcoming judges' homes shows into one less show.

Oops, I see they're going to show Thursday's show on Sunday night. Which could be interrupted by a game 7...

Yeah, really disappointing, but it's a sad truth for any FOX show in the Fall due to Fox's contract with the MLB to televise a sport whose biggest games people don't care about (as evidenced by their terrible ratings).

They already extended the Judge's Houses episodes to three 2 hour nights because the producers said they loved all the footage they had, and now this will screw that up. Baseball is not worth what it does to Fox's Fall schedule.

I'm skeptical about that. That is a legitimate criticism of the show so far-it seems a little padded, and maybe it's just my imagination, but aren't there more commercials for X Factor than the typical show?

It's a gimmick that has been used in the past by many reality shows-stretch out the footage to make as many episodes as possible.

Not sure why they'd pad the early non-live shows. As it is now I don't know how they're going to do a 12-16 performer single-elimination per week show and end before Christmas. If they go the approach the Voice took, I'll quickly lose interest. Losing 4 a week is simply too many.

"Instead, tonight's planned telecast will air Thursday night. And the Thursday telecast will air on Sunday unless that gets bumped by a Game 7 with next Tuesday's episode airing as planned."

The sound mix is much better tonight though I have to say those "outdoors" performances totally sounded over dubbed.

I've only watched a few minutes, but what I heard sounded echoey.
I agree that the sound was from a studio with effects added to the performance. This is my mind is fine, but distracting because the sound didn't match the location. My guess is that into the editing process they realized they had crap sound and needed a fix.

I like this part of the competition, but it's jarring to hear them talking to their mentor and hearing the sounds of water, birds, wind etc and then the song kicks in and its all gone. Perhaps the recordings were complete crap so they had to dub it all, but if they pull this **** on live shows, I'm out.

Gotta say though there's a lot of good talent mixed in there, but the fear I have is they go with the gimmicks instead of the talent. The former skid row guy was atrocious.

This was just plain idiotic. I watch these shows for the live performances, not this studio massaged crap. I want to hear what the judges heard. And if that IS what the judges heard, then they were just lip synching.

They had to know that being outside would result in less than optimal recordings. SO DON'T DO IT!

In a thinly disquised effort to showcase the lavish homes the judges live in, a patio/deck show was thought to be so cool .. no equipment in sight, a private showing .. and now we also know that Simon has a home in France .. which of course, trumps all the other judges homes, because, after all, this is the Simon Cowell Show ..

Unfortunately, doing a live mix under these circumstances was discovered to be, let's say, less than ideal .. thus, we have lip-sync or dubbed audio ..

As Simon lounged on his deck, like a modern day Caesar, sneering at all the meer mortals .. all that was needed was a slave girl feeding him peeled grapes ..

A hurricane kept her and her grapes on the tarmac unfortunately.

What I like about this portion of the show is we are getting to know the contestants one at a time. It makes it fair for any one who did not get as much air time as others. I have always thought this was a failing with A.I., and at least everyone will get their time in the spotlight.

The over 30 and the groups did not really impress me that much. The groups need production work to find a unique sound while the over 30s last night were off. It is no wonder Simon got the girls because they all seem to be a talented bunch. Simone and Brian aka Astro both stepped up their game from their auditions.

I watched a few performances last night. This show is just flat out horrible.

Compared to what? What are your favorite shows that make this show "horrible?" You haven't liked any of the previous weeks either?

Simon's home has the best deck. Love the Ipe deck by the pool. Though I liked the architecture of LA Reid's house the most.

I will agree with that for the James Brown wannabe dude .. I don't know how he got so far .. the Memphis jacket has to go .. he still looks like a homeless guy .. he's not a good singer .. and I'm not buying the crying bit ..

No. The other 16 will perform on Sunday night. The 14 year old blonde closed the show. While I have utter disdain for these live performances, I watched this performance more than once.

I despise the recorded and heavily edited songs being used, but that 14 year old girl was better than anyone on all of Idol the past 3 seasons. Simon definitely got the best group of singers. The boys category appears to be a huge cesspool of crapola. I kinda liked the manufactured girl group despite their stupid name, and one or two of the oldies sang well, but I'm sick of the tears. Stop effin' crying. Can we lose half of the guys and half the mandatory groups and let most of the girls in?

Of course he did .. this is "The Simon Cowell Show" AKA "X-Factor" .. he must stack the deck in his favor in order to better insure one of his gets the win ..

Uhh, people's votes still determine who wins, right? On how many big reality singing competitions has a girl won in the last few years?

L.A. Reid knew what he was talking about when he said "I think I just won."

This is only the 2nd time watching it. I tried to during the auditions and didnt like it. Same with the things I saw last night. This isn't about comparing it, I just think it sucks.

Thats rather funny, cause when I turned the show on, this is the guy that was getting ready to perform. I watched the bleached, tattooed chick, the 2 brothers, and the crooner. The crooner had a good voice, but he is nothing new.

He is insuring a loss by taking the girls. It's that simple. It doesn't matter how good the girls are. It doesn't. Recent history has shown us that a guy always wins. Simon could have 4 of the last 5 remaining, and a girl still wouldn't be favored.
