The X Factor on FOX HD - Page 28

Even Entertainment Weekly, who cover all the major singing competitions, are now sick of X Factor's reliance on manufactured drama instead of singing. They posted a story this morning lamenting yet another cliffhanger episode involving footage of a downed contestant and ambulances arriving. Horrible horrible horrible.

I don't know why they are suddenly "sick" of the manufactured drama. The X Factor - USA has always been a scripted show with a reality theme. They have already filmed the next phase at the judges homes (not actually their homes, just locations rented for the week), and it will be interesting to see if they have full music playing once again while a single guy sits at a piano. That killed me last year.

VFTW pointed out how much auto-tuning and other effects were added to Austin Corini's audition last night, I bet Britney and Demi felt right at home.

As a first time watcher of the show last night (had no other option) I thought that part was so staged it was not funny at all.

Wow, that's faker than Xtina Aguillera's t*ts. I love how all audience sound drops completely out when he starts singing.

As I have previously posted they often hyper the reality (editing) to the point one has to wonder what demographics they are going for.

I have one family member thinks maybe that kid was really sick? phhf they did the same with American idol last season.. It's amazing how gullible people are. Don't they understand they show this stuff just to keep people tuned in? Just like America idol always throws those people on who clearly can't sing before they narrow it down.

As I said before I had no other option but to watch this because the tv is in my room but really I don't like any of the singing shows.

I find all of the singing competitions more reality than talent based. It's about experiencing their journey. As such when they askew the reality (beyond the obvious) it simply detracts from the presentation and reduces the investment.

Spears looks awful compared to Demi Lavato. If Spears had any type of competent management the choice of Lavato would have been vetoed. It's hard to feel sorry for her-that footage involving her "manager" and messing with the show runner is really, really lame stuff. Keep up that crap and the audience will hate her more than they hated Nicole S. at the end of last season.

Demi Lavato is actually tolerable so far, but doesn't add much to the judging.

I'll reserve judgment on Simon until the live shows.
one question why do they need to show them getting fixed up while waiting for the next contestant?

I think Britney is good for the rubbernecking / train wreck value. It's Demi who seems completely pointless.

L.A. aint no great shake either. His pointing his finger is getting on my nerve.

Simone's vaunted "honesty" is overrated. He goes overboard with his praise for any halfway decent singer that has the looks.

Btw, do they bus in these teen girls in the audience from a junior modeling agency or something? They must shoo all the old and ugly people to the back rows.

Simon doesn't judge on X Factor (in the US or UK). When he owns the show, he just blows smoke up contestants' asses. He lost the one redeeming quality that he had on Idol - honesty.

Although I am old, I am not ugly .. as one who has attended these type shows in the past, they do, in fact, direct the younger / sexier folks to the front ..

I am not old, but I'm definitely ugly. As such, I expect to be shoved way back. Otherwise, the director will be working overtime to avoid showing my face.

I tried 1 more time to watch this show and first thing I see is a chubby flamboyant kid "singing" Sexy And I Know It. Worst thing i've seen in recent memory. Standing ovation and all judges LOVE it. Simon used to be a real judge. He would have stopped it within 10 seconds back in his prime. Now he shoves 10 mints in his mouth and tries to say how great it was. I seriously turned it off after that. It's a complete joke. LA Reid says "That is what the X-Factor is all about."

Yep. One of the absolute worst pieces of **** on TV. Hilarious that it's only getting about a third of the ratings Simon bragged it would get.

What's your definition of chubby? He looked like a normal kid to me. And this was an innocent performance, and the kid WAS a good performer. You must not have much of a sense of humor. You would have hated the Annie girl.

Now, if you wanted to complain that the kid shouldn't have been onstage in the first place due to the health issues, that's another matter.

I've got a sense of humor. I thought it was a singing competition though. My bad. Simon used to actually judge singing, not physical comedy. By the way, that kid had bosoms.

If you want a purely singing competition, stick with Idol, where you can watch people like Jessica Sanchez stand there like a statue.

Don't care about Mario Lopez. But the other choice will be hard to take.

That said, I'm wondering exactly what Kardashian brings to the table ..

She's been featured on TMZ on several occasions. That's a qualification, right?

It must be to some ..

To me, it's just another indication that the producers could care less if the show ever has a shred of cred

I don't mind if it's not pure singing, but I would like the contestant to have at least a tiny shred of talent.

The sad part is they couldn't even get the Khardasian with a sex tape.

At least Simon's decisions regarding the show are consistently awful.
