And they've seemingly put a mic right next to a shrieker, who whines like a cat. Intolerable.
Worst of all though was the singing from the contestants ranged from simply bad to downright awful.
I've decided they're catering to 16-year olds as the audience. This is certainly not a show for adults. Everything about it... the songs, the clothes, the background singers/dancers, the screaming, the "arena mentality"... it's just too offensive for an adult to tolerate.
The two hosts finally showed up and as suspected Mario is a joke. His presence makes the show feel incredibly low-rent. Surprisingly Khloe wasn't bad. They could easily jettison Mario right now and lose nothing. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending upon your perspective, the spotlights on Khloe put her nipples on display through her top. Nice nipples though.
This is the most interesting part of this season... that apparently it wasn't Steve Jones by himself who was so awful as a host. It is the creep who writes the words he was forced to say by reading the prompter who was at fault!
In fact, this season they have the same creep writing the words, and have divided the reading responsibility between two people. So now we have two Steve Jones on stage, mechanically reading words while staring into a prompter that should be mortifying to any reasonable person.
Khloe is HORRIBLE, and Mario is even more embarrassing. Honestly, you could close your eyes and imagine you're hearing Steve Jones read these ridiculous words. Even the intonation and delivery of Khloe and Mario is as bland as Jones was, and has the same inflection. Fake excitement, fake anxiety, fake enthusiasm. About as sincere as Brooke Burke.
I gave it a few weeks, but the competitors are awful, and the hosts are worse. Add to that judges who are parodies of judges in a reality show and who seem to be talking to 10-year olds, and who have to scream into their mics to be heard over the screaming, and I'm gone.
Series quickly deleted from DVR. I won't go any further with this.
Such a huge difference between the quality of this show and The Voice, though. The judges, the singing, the format, the band, the audio, the host are all infinitely better on The Voice. X Factor attempts to make up for the lack of singing talent by going with huge productions and set pieces, but it amounts to nothing more than putting a pretty bow on a dog turd (am I doing the stupid analogy thing correctly, Simon?)
This isn't a show. It's an over-the-top parody that is simply impossible to watch for 2 hours (even FF'ing through most of it).
In fact, it's simply impossible to watch period... because those parts that you actually do want to watch are inherently unwatchable, accompanied by mindless screaming.
I hope this is the final season for this disaster. Who's watching it??? Are any of these "singers/groups" actually appealing??? Am I that out of touch with the musical world of today??
