Blu ray player [HDMI]--> 55" GT30 [Optical]--> Onkyo 600
I've told the blu ray player to re-encode as DTS as that's what my Onkyo supports.
The Onkyo is reporting back that it's only receiving 2 Channel PCM.

Onkyo reports it's receiving DTS.
I searched the GT30's settings and could not find a way to set it's optical output to DTS, or PCM or anything. I figured it would simply mimic the input HDMI signal but that doesn't seem to be the case. Am I going to have to optical out of my cable box, and blu ray player separately in order to get DTS? Seems silly.
What am I missing? Is this an HDCP issue?
