I accidentally bought oil based paint for the av cabinet

I went to the store the other day and got some high gloss black paint for the av cabinet. How long should I wait to put compnenets on the shelves so I don't leave and indentations in the paint? Or should I just go buy some water based high gloss black and paint over the oil based coat?

Water won't stick to oil.

I'd wait at least a few days depending on conditions like temp humidity.

Probably a couple of months to be sure that it won't stick. If you have any really dry hot area you could stick the shelves it would help. Like in the back of your SUV parked in the sun.

Would love to smell the insides of that SUV after 8 hours in the sun

Well it's gonna be still about a month till I put anything in the cabinet. I think it will alright. I guess you live and learn right.
