Or worse, doing it in 2D, pushing it through a process for a 2D to 3D conversion. Those just do not work well at all.
Sending out FAKE 3D and touting it as 3D movie, in my books, should be illegal.

However, Rango is cgi, so the process would involve re-rendering for two discrete views, and the result should be equal to a film shot/rendered in 3D in the first place (compositional considerations aside).
That being said, I don't think they'll bother... not enough people went to see the movie in 2D for them to invest in the extra work!
