I answered your PM, but I'll answer here as well.

You can run this off a 20A circuit, but it WILL trip the breaker if you push too hard. I wouldn't recommend it, but it will still work, and I doubt you'll have any issues unless you really push this.

There is no need for an amp this powerful for mains. Also, something like an FP10000Q would be better for that since its 4 channel as opposed to 2. Still, way too powerful. If you can't drive your mains off of your receiver, it's time to upgrade your mains Adding more components to the signal chain just degrades SQ.

Nice job on the modified fans. Very quiet considering what they are.

Very good demonstration on the video showing the dramatic difference between the two. Great rig, informative thread. Also, I appreciate the heads up on dubstep.

Thanks and continued good luck

I have a sound proof "EQ rack" idea Im working on (double dry wall, green glue around a rack frame I already have) with my latest HT build so maybe its all okay for me in the future.

My XBOX360 is freaking loud and the HTPC isnt all that silent anyways. Leaving with compromises already

360 is awful. These amps sound fine with the fans replaced.

Penn are you in for one of the amps? I am on the fence about it. I need one more amp right now but...

Im not in on this buy because Im on the fence right now still and I also need 2" CDs right now and that problem is causing headaches....NO SOURCES, no used options.

Last night I starting planning new HT remodel and a "silent" rack solution popped into my head after 5 beers and 1 hour AC/DC

Could you spell out the details of what you're offering?

IIRC, you're saying you'll check units for proper function, but didn't say what the extra cost is.

Thanks for doing this.

Just checking the unit for proper functioning, letting it warm up, making sure it works, repairing anything necessary, handling the buy, shipping, customs, etc and guaranteeing a working unit. I'm not discussing any prices here, only in PM. I can also do the fan replacements. If you're interested send me a PM.

I posted a vid in my sub thread. Here it is again. The amps have more output, but I'm afraid to bottom a driver.

Notnyt,
Did you consider changing out the power cord ? (as mentioned in a previous post).

I'm not worried about it. It's 5ft stranded copper, it's not like a 50ft run of 14awg romex.

Anyway, doesn't look like the buy is going to happen. Many people backed out.

Doh! I was just testing my LMS drivers last night connecting them to my loaner Marathon MA-5050 and the amp was clipping at moderate levels when running frequency sweeps. This had me thinking the QSC RMX-5050 might not be enough to handle two LMS-Ultra 5400s. Cheaper to go with two of these clones vs. two QSCs.

Ok, back to the drawing board.

You can still order direct. It's fairly easy, just have to send a wire.

One 5050 bridged should handle one 5400. So you need two of them.

Its nice to have that 3dB of headroom though and one FP14000 would handle both 5400s.

i ordered 2 directly, but bank of america decided to cut off the back half of sanway's official company name. hope i get this resolved

Johnson Tang from sanway is very responsive to emails, making the buying experience so far great

Well that's a bummer. I was definitely interested. The fan mod would be a must for my room and I'm not sure that I'm comfortable doing it myself without lots of direction

Feel like doing a little writeup Notnyt?

In English?

Of course. You can request a quote, wire money, send them wire confirmation, amp ships, you get amp, then get a bill for duty from dhl. not much to it.
The english in the emails was quite good actually. hope my bank fixes the problem with the wire.

What kind of duty fees were you charged?
Notnyt,
I see the link to the fans that you used. Did you end up using the resistors as well?

What's on the end of that tool that you made for removing the fans?

It was $6 dhl fee, and like $23 duties for four amps.

1. remove old fans
2. install new fans

Sorry, all kidding aside, it's a bit more complicated than that.

The 80mm fans are easy to replace, and only have two screws securing them in the top, and tab mounts on the bottom they slide into. You just open the bottom of the amp, desolder the fan wires which are cleverly marked "fan". Then from the top of the amp, unscrew the fan and snake the wire out. Installation is just the opposite, snake the wire through, mount the fan, solder it up.

The 60mm fans are harder, as you cannot really reach the bottom screws without making a tool for it. I just torched a P1 phillips screwdriver and bent the head 90 degrees to reach. It's VERY tight even after that. Once the screws come loose, I used a pair of needle nose pliers to get them out the rest of the way faster. Once they're out, you get to put the new ones in, which is no fun either. Make sure to thread the screws in first so that they go in the holes easy when installing. Once they're mounted, you can easily solder them up. I used the resistors with the 60mm fans. Anywhere from 300-400ohm should do. I used 5 watt wire wound to be on the safe side. The alternative is to disassemble and reassemble the amp, which wouldn't be too bad, but more work than I felt like dealing with when I have four amps to modify. All the parts are kind of mounted to each other, so it would have to come almost all of the way apart.
