Lab Gruppen FP14000 clone amplifiers - Page 62

Has anyone replaced the fans in the 14K with ease?

I know Not bent a tool to use for access to the screws. I dont think I would be able to bend any tools but wondered how hard it is. PLUS wondered if Not or anyone figured out an easier way or tool to buy to unscrew the screws.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Do you have the amps already?? If not why not order them with the "quiet" Sunnon fans installed on them? Both of my amps are rack mounted and they barely get warm to the touch and they're not very loud either.
I have not ordered them yet. I forgot also that you could get the quieter fans. That being said do you sit very close to your amps?

I would most likely have my amps like Not does. So I need them to be quiet. I know Nots will work because of his videos and thread. I just wonder if the Sunnon fans are as quiet.

I'm about 10ft from the amps. They're in a rack on the other side of the right subs in the corner. Here's a quick pic for reference.

The "quiet" fans are still not very quiet.

You can replace the fans without a special tool, however it will require disassembling far more of the amp to get to it. Once the tool was made, this saved me time since I had 4 amps to do this on.

Thanks guys. You guys both have amazing setups..........jealous.....biggrin.gif

Not what spec do I need to look at for choosing my replacement fans?

It will cost me a bit in shipping so I may look for fans that are already here. Although if I get the same fans Not did at least I know what to expect.

air flow, db, size, width, voltage, pwm or not, bearing type, etc. I tested a bunch of fans, I'd recommend getting whatever I had listed.

My amps arent very loud either except on start up. They would be "ok" 10-15' away except on dead quiet scenes. I just told JT I wanted the quiet fans. I do remember someone ordering the quiet fans and they were like 10-15db louder than I tested mine at though. Maybe they forgot to add the quiet ones to their order. It was a ways back in this thread.

I asked for the sunon fans and they definitely dont say sunon and they definitely arent quiet. Luckily it is mounted in a closet. Hope to have it fixed next week. When it was working it really pushed my xxx's.

Thanks....I missed your first page links for the fans. So how many 80mm and 60mm fans do I need to buy?

2x60, 2x80, and 2 of the resistors. Go look at the pics/writeup links.

FYI gents, I've purchased two more REAL labs which I am supposed to get in the next day or so. I can let a couple of clones go before next week if anyone is interested and ready to purchase ... I will be selling 3 only total at this time( I need to keep 4 amps total for 8 bi-amp mixes) Please email me at shane.presley@allenvanguard.com to let me know who is still interested in a TESTED and working 10Q. ($1000 cdn + shipping and any duties).
Thanks
SP

The asking price is a litte less what I paid for them I am still losing money on the deal... They are literally two weeks old - ANNNND you don't have the risk of buying a boat anchor.
Think about it
$785.00 USD + $100USD shipping is = $885.00 USD + ($20 brokerage + 6.5% duty and 13% HST tax) ~ $1085.00 PER AMP.

I do want to sell them, but I'm not giving them away, if someone wants to take the risk of buying a dud, help yourself - it's been made MORE than clear here on how to do that here.
I'm offering a "QC'd" working amp. I have the complete dead one repaired, and I am getting the hurt ch 4 on the fifth one of mine addressed...

There are 3 available asap - I will prioritize by the email I receive, and confirmed paypal, or other methods of payment ( bank draft, postal money order etc...)
Fatshaft and N8Dogg has purchased from me and they can comment as to my creditials if required.

Heywoods price is fair. He paid the same as me to get my 14's here. about $1050 each after it was all said and done. At least you know your getting a working one!
I would have to agree about the price on a working one, price is really more than he stated if add the odds of getting a bad amp. Although, if shipping to the US can get them cheaper from JT. I only paid like $1850 total for two 10ks.
But those amps are special since they seemingly float upside down. Or are those anti-gravity racks I see in that pic?
I went to Heywood1969 place to make the deal and you know what guys...he's a f$#*^%^*&ken nice guy too!
BTW, my 10000Q from Heywood is kickin' along very nicely.

Avholic, I understand your position, getting them shipped direct to the us would remove the 13% hst(Canadian sales tax), and what not.... When I get desperate I can work on shipping w potential buyers. In Canada I have a friend that works for purolator, about 50% of normal cost, but no shipping insurance can be applied( that's the trade off). Let me know friends, and thanks for the props fat shaft, back at ya! Glad the amp is treating you right, I think you need one more smile.gif

Oh, I still think having the "known" fact of getting a working amp is worth the little extra money buying it used at/near someones' cost. Is pretty much what one can expect when buying something like this. There is no reason for you to go down on your price simply because you live in Canada. Hell, maybe you should start buying these and testing them for a few days each and selling for like $50-$100 over your cost of final working condition.

I just sent him a $1000, so I guess there is only one left now. Did I do the math's correct? tongue.gif

I tink you need fiddy dallas mo
I'm on the west coast so it will take at least 6 sleeps; but the extra QA is worth it to avoid a dud.
I don't have any speakon's and I'm outta XLR's nor a 30amp/120v breaker nor romex, and then there is also the shipping costs, so it be more than a fiddy mo.

I got the $, from HZ - checking on shipping options for him...
The price is $1000.00 cdn + shipping for anyone that might be confused (I think there was talk of "fifty more", that is NOT the case)...
I think the confusion lies in N8DOGGs post about how much it costed him to land his 14K's ($1050).

First happy customer - who's next smile.gif

I might be able to get some pics inside the real labs if I have time tonight... I just picked up my 2 new 10Q's from receiving tongue.gif.....
Awfully tempting but it would throw off my whole budget if I were to get the 10000Q now. What I really need is a 100% non-busted 14k clone.
I'm not ready for the 10Q yet, other wise I'd be all over it. I'm heading to Boston for a week to see a Sox/Yankees and a Pats/Cards games, those damn tickets were 3K to go to both the games. Not including the flight, hotel or the booze that I will destroy my liver with biggrin.gif lol O well I have crazy sweet seats for both games.

I would hope! I hate baseball but I am waiting for Tom to get back in town so Cam can make him look like an old man.
I'm not a huge fan of baseball either but I'm going to be in the Pavilion Suites for the game and I like it enough to sit through a game. I was at Fenway 2 years ago for a game and it was great. Football and Hockey on the other hand! I'm 6 rows up on the 50 yard line for the pats game! We tried to make it so we could get a Bruins game in also but after the lockout that will surely happen, we just are doing the 2 this time. Next year it's New York!

Got a tracking number. Question: Do the clones work with the 4-Pole or 2-Pole speakon connectors? I've never used speakon before, but I was thinking of buying these and rolling my own wiring.

Buy the 4 pole but you only need to use 2 poles for standard wiring. I was new to them until got my clones as well and now wish every speaker connection used these.
