I modded my other amp earlier today. The older amp that I've had for quite awhile now.
Bought it from Keager last year. I remember he mentioned that he did a fan mod to quiet it down. It was apparent that some modification was done when compared directly to the new (unmodded) Clone I recently purchased. However, it was just as apparent that it was significantly louder than the post modded amp. When I popped the top I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 60mm fans were the exact ones Not recommended. Pic of the new vs used fan:
A quick "recondition" and they were good as new:
The reason (I'm assuming) it was louder was because it did not have the resistors inline with the 60mm fans. Threw them in line and bam... Just as quiet as the other amp!
Now I have spare 60mm fans for the third Clone.
Man, totally stoked how much of a difference this mod made. My amps are about 7ft away from me right now and I hear nothing. Just as Beast mentioned a few weeks back. My projector is louder than both of my amps now.
