+1 for the 2112! Just got her hooked up yesterday and couldn't be happier! This replaced a 10 year old HK AVR 525 and I must say, my system has never sounded even close to this good. Plus, if you're a fan of the band Rush... it's a no brainer! LOL!

My TV has cable direct no box, HDMI connect from TV to 2112, HDMI from 2112 to BD65.

I connected an optical cable from TVdigital audi out to 2112 optical tv.

I read my TV set up and gone through here looking for what I am sure is a very simple solution. Read FAQs and says about setting from source but it's all greek to me. Find it very hard to navigate and negotiate the manual. BTW

so what's the problem? if you have an optical cable running out from the TV to the receiver, and you are getting audio..... what's wrong? that sounds like correct function.

Sorry, I am not getting audio, that's the problem

I have a rather dumb question, I ordered a 3312 and was wondering if there is a less problematic way of transmitting multichannel PCM from a pc to the receiver than using HDMI, like a virtual sound card to IP or using the USB port on the AVR as a soundcard?

couple of quickies if you please

how do i get 'direct' to use the sub for 2 ch stuff either over network or CD?

i know its there but i cant find the screen with all the hdmi inputs where you can select audio source etc?

Did you change the audio settings on your Panny S1 to "home theater" and turn off the TV speakers? That should be all you need to do on the TV side. On the Denon you should only need to select TV as the input to hear audio through your speakers.

^^^

Make sure you have your avr settings correct. Choose a input (Tv) go into Input Setup/Input Assign and select Optical under Digital. Then back out and go into Input Mode and Select Digital and for Decode Mode select Auto.

Go to Manual Setup/Audio Setup/2ch Direct/Sterei.

No to the Usb and doubt it for VSC but if your Pc has a Coax or Optical Digital out that would work.

I got a 2112 coming on the way. Now got to order speaker cables and banana plugs from Monoprice.

Does it take standard banana plugs?

Thank You so much Possumgirl and Spager. I would never have figured that out. To be honest when I first read your post, Spager , I thought you were puttin me on. Then I read and reread and it kind of made sense. Jumped up and tried it and accomplished in 5 minutes what has been a day event. Mahalos. maybe I can go to the beach after all. Crap, still have all my sources and remotes to tame. Stay posted

Too bad, guess I will stick to the annoying NVIDIA HDMI then.

Just bought a 2112 last week.

Yes, I just went through that last week. I didn't even know what a banana plug was! I searched the net and there are several video presentations available, one being Crutchfield, I believe.

To the best of my knowledge yes, but you might have to remove the tiny plastic cap first.

been there and only choices are 'basic' or 'custom'
both have set fronts to small and use sub but still no sub when using 'direct'

i really want to use sub in 'direct' or 'pure direct' mode......help!

EDIT:

sorted it!
i had the bass setting to LFE imstead of LFE+Main
goes back to earlier amps where this meant bass sent to sub plus main SPEAKERS....DOH!

Read the audio section of my FAQ : http://batpigworld.com/fadq.html#audio

Not sure if this is the right place or not but worth a try...

I am the proud but frustrated owner of a Denon AVR 3312 CI. What I want to do is play music (iTunes, Pandora or other) while playing my PS3 (as the video source).

Should be straightforward, but it is not. Pretty sad if this is not possible. So many great features except the one that many receivers have.

Help please!!!

yes, it takes standard banana plugs. If you don't have much space behind your avr, I would suggest getting the open screw type as the wires can be routed through the top/ bottom of the plug and not just through the back.

Of coarse it's possible. That is why there is assignable written all over the back of you avr.

Connect a component cable from your Ps3 to either 1 or 2 to the assignable component jacks on the back of your avr.

Go into Input Setup/Input Assign and then assign either 1 or 2 that you selected to use.

Go to the Input Setup/Video/Video Select and select the input source you have assigned for your Ps3 when you are in Net/USB.

A little tip; If you choose an input if available maybe V. Aux or any input that you are not using Hdmi you will not have to set the Hdmi to none and back when your done for this to work, as your Video will always revert to Hdmi first.

Looking to replace my old school Marantz SR4200 AV surround receiver (works fine) with a Denon, or should I just keep what I have?

My old school setup: (2) rear WH 2 series Wharfedales, (1) WH 2 centre, (2) Sound Dynamics RTS-P100 powered speakers (towers), Marantz SR4200 receiver, & Velodyne SPL-1500R sub. Other items I have hooked up: my plasma (KRP500M), PS3, and satellite for TV. The only thing I want to upgrade is the receiver.

These new avr's are a HT marvel. With a Gui that lets you see and make changes from your Tv screen. One Hdmi cable to the Tv. The Audyssey correction calibration is second to none for Sound Quality. They also have networking and Airplay so you can stream wireless.

I notice your receiver has pre outs to maintain this feature you would need to go with the 3312ci for this is the only amp to offer this in the 12 series Denons or go with another Marantz that most have at the minimum front pre outs.

Check out Pg. 1 of this forum for a real good look at the different features offered on the 12 series Denons.

Hey All,

Just starting to get some static from my AVR-3300 lately and some sound drop on occasion when watching Uverse. I have been looking at getting a Roku so HDMI capability in a new receiver would be nice. My concern is with the heft of these new AVRs from Denon. Am I going to be disappointed in them? My AVR-3300 weighs like 33 pounds these new ones are only 26 pounds. Will I not get 12 years out of a new Denon like I got out of my 3300? The 2 that I have been looking at are the 2312CI and 3312CI. I just wonder about the quality and I know a lot of you have experience with the old and new ones, I am looking for a confidence boost here.

Thanks

Denon 2112.!
I see 2 strange things ! I don't know if its the denon for return or its the software!
I plug the Ethernet connection and some times I see a message about updated to press enter but its like don't response and in The radio when I'm looking some station a message appear and say no connection to network.!
Maybe its the software and I need to update but I don't know how manually because I press enter but I don't see nothing xd
What can I do.?

Hey Guys, I have two quick questions:

1) PS3 games dont seem to be calibrated with reference level in mind - What AVR settings are you guys using for gaming? When I play NBA 2k12, I cant tolerate a volume over -25. It's very loud! This may cause Dyn EQ and such to go out of whack. Should I "lower" the Level of the PS3 input? use Reference Level Offset on the receiver? or Lower the "master volume" in the Game?

2) While watching a movie yesterday where background 'music' played pretty loud on all speakers on a specific scene. The master volume on the Receiver was on -10 and Dynamic Volume was set to Day. I dont know if this was caused by Dynamic Range or DynEQ boosting anything because I was watching the movie at -10. Is Reference Level Offset "Literal?" I watch Bluray's at -10db. Does that mean I should use a -10db REO setting?

Just got a 2112ci after returning a pioneer vsx 50 because I could not play my iPod on USB in zone 2. My powered subwoofer worked like a champ on the pioneer, but no sound at all from the sub now that it is hooked up to the Denon. I have checked to ensure the the sub is marked 'yes' in the setup. I am definitely hooked up to the pre out on the receiver. when I got into the ch select menu the sub is not showing up at all. With the sub on, scratching my thumb on the coax I get a sound. Is my receivers pre out toast, or am I missing a setting? Can anyone help? Thanks!
