Guys, do you know how to set up Batpig's Denon commands for my Harmony 700?
hxxps://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AngOYY2BARa3cmxmNE9Pa0hHRk9Xdzd0b2pLMVA2Ync&pli=1#gid=0

Again, I was looking for clue but no success

Thank you all

I assume you have a Samsung TV? If so, turn Anynet+ off and the problem will go away.

thank you batpig,
BTW, what is Anynet+ ?

It is Samsung's name for CEC control where the TV remote can control the AVR but is porly implemented so turn it off.

Ok, I've been unsuccessful so far...

I have the uverse hdmi hooked up to hdmi 3 on the denon. At the same time, I have the component cables from the uverse hooked up to the component posts on the denon. Under input assign, I have the "TV" component set to RCA. When I have AirPlay playing, I select video-->TV and nothing shows up,on the screen... Should I have another input set to RCA instead of TV?

^^i should remind everyone that I'm trying to watch tv while listening to AirPlay!

Picked up a 2312 a few weeks ago and I am pretty sure I updated the firmware the first night although I am not positive. I turned it on today for the first time since sunday and it said there was a firmware update. I checked my 2112 and there was no update for this. Would the 2112 and 2312 share the same updates? Is there any way to see what the update addresses?

Thanks
Ray

First time poster and a new member. I picked up an AVR-3312CI and all of my devices are HDMI capable, but my television isn't, it's running on component. I tried connecting one of my devices via HDMI and my television via component, but I didn't get any video showing on the tv. Is there a setting I need to change in order to enable the downsampling?

Thanks in advance

Is it true for volume under 0db? I thought you need to have at least DAY setting if you are listening under 0db to enhance the audio, right?

Otherwise I have to bump up the volume close to 0db to get that effect.

Make sure that either HDMI Control is set to OFF or HDMI-CEC on the TV is disabled, otherwise assign RCA to another source name.

As noted in the firmware changelog information listed in post #6 of this thread (currently out of date), the 2112CI and 2312CI generally do not share the same updates.

Welcome to AVS Forum.

Due to HDCP restrictions, AVRs cannot convert HDMI--> component video. You'll need to either connect component cables from your devices to the AVR, or purchase a 3rd party device like the one below.

Dynamic EQ works off of the reference volume of 0db. Ensure it's set to ON. For TV viewing, set the Reference Level Offset to 10db to enhance dialog.

In Sat/Cable go to Menu and in Input Assign select the component-rca you have assigned for your universe box and assign the component to any name source, so you may as well use the name source you are using which is Sat/Cable. Hdmi control can be on or off.

Go into Net/USB select Input Setup/Video/Video Select and select Sat/Cable and you should have video from your universe box while in Net/USB...Airplay.

Got a Firmware update for my AVR-3312 CI last night. Anyone know what the update did?

Thank you.

Getting an update on my 2312 right now. Kind of surprising considering the XX13s have to be what they are concentrating on.

Would be nice if they did some about Net/USB on my 2312, it is very unstable right now. But, I do love this AVR

I agree, love the 2312 but the Net/USB is very unstable.

Hmm.. I'm looking into the 2112, 2312 and 3312...

By "unstable", what do you mean?

I don't necessarily need ethernet in a receiver anyhow because I have a solution for that already but being able to do set up from my desk would be a nice little perk.

Random freezing and crashing and just plain flakey behavior in all of the Net/USB internet apps I've tried. Pandora on my Sony TV is much more stable. I'm on my second 2312 since the first crashed while listening to Pandora and was unable to recover - wouldn't even allow a microprocessor reset and had to have it replaced per Denon tech support.
Wow.. That isn't good. Can you still access the settings menu through local ethernet? Remotelly accessing the settings, a couple of non-functional HDMI ports and a better GUI is the only reason I am looking to upgrade at this time.

The more I think about it the more I am considering sticking with my AVR-889 until I actually need HDMI 1.4a or my HDMI inputs quit altogether. None of my other equipment supports HDMI 1.4a anyhow. There's no 4k content to speak of, I don't game and don't have need for any of the airplay stuff and I'm not really into 3-D anyhow; I'm not so sure what reason there is for me to have HDMI 1.4a at this point in time. I'd be looking a a huge outlay to do this...

New Motherboard and CPU for the HTPC
New HDTV (Going to go from 40" to 60" this year but probably a 2-D model anyhow)
New AVR
New BRP.

Ya, I agree with this, although I have never had my 2312 crash, or freeze, to the point of having to have it replaced. I have had to unplug it a few times, had Airplay stop for no reason, and have had all sorts of problem with the front USB playing an iPod. Heck, I even have a dock plugged into it that just stops.

Usually I can get everything back in a few seconds, but it is getting annoying. My 3311 in the living room has no problems with the above and it is set up the same way, on the same network, and even has the same Denon dock connected to it. Go figure!

If it were me looking to buy, I would wait until the xx13s are fully out on the market. Although it would be difficult to pass up the deals on the xx12s right now. That is how I ended up with a 3311

Does any one know where my sound went? I just ran the calibration again on my 1712 after reading some more stuff here and the sound went bye bye. The calibration went fine since I heard all the tones. Also noticed that the ch level does not display.

I am thinking I screwed up a setting somewhere due to the fact that if I turn the tuner on I get sound out of the system but not when in dvd/bd/sat mode.

Thanks

Denon updated their US product page with the following:
AVR-1513
AVR-1613
AVR-1713
AVR-1913

Check in Manual Setup/Speaker Setup/ Amp Assign and check that it is on the correct setting. If no luck unplug for 10 min.

Initially, when the unit would crash, I was able to get it working again by cutting and restoring the power. Then one day, while listening to Pandora, my TV flashed green and the 2312 become unresponsive. Power cycling did nothing. I was even unable to do a microprocessor reset.

Hopefully the replacement unit will not have this problem. I've had it over a month and it's still running fine - except for the still unreliable Net/USB functions.

Stability problems with the ethernet/USB and having a unit brick itself (when not doing a f/w update even) doesn't sound good.

Has this been reported by many or is it just an isolated issue?

I'm curious about this too. I'm ready to pull the trigger on a xx12, but AirPlay is a big selling point for me, and I would be really disappointed to discover stability issues.

I've heard some AirPlay stability issues have been resolved by turning off Bluetooth, but that wouldn't resolve general net/USB crashing.

I purchased an AVR1612 refurb last year for my travel trailer. After using it for a while, I noticed that I had lost the right channel. I boxed it up thinking I might take it to the Denon repair center sometime. This winter we visited Phoenix where by sister and husband live. I had a conversation with my bro-in-law who does 'electronics stuff' and he said he could probably fix it. Figured that it couldn't hurt too much and if he couldn't find the answer, it probably wouldn't cost any more to fix than it was already going to cost.

Well, he found that if you were playing straight stereo (no 'enhancements') the right channel worked fine. (I didn't find this - I thought the problem had to do with temperature.) But when you pressed an 'enhancement' on the remote, like Movie or Music, etc, the right channel was lost.

He downloaded a manual online and found that the enhancement was produced by sending the signal thru an IC. Figured the IC was 'bad'. Found that he couldn't get the IC anywhere but Denon and it was $84+. Well, $84 would be cheaper than the full repair by Denon, so I told him to go ahead, buy the part and fix it.

It bugged him that nothing was coming out of the IC and took the unit to his workplace where he hooked it up to an ocilloscope. He could 'see' the signal going to the IC, but no output. Then he looked at all the soldering on the pins and found that 1 pin was unsoldered. A little solder and some heat and the problem was solved!! What a deal!

Just goes to show that some knowledge, some persistence, and a questioning mind can repair a receiver - you don't always have to 'take it to the shop'.

It is difficult to say whether or not the issue is widespread. In my case I found quick fixes which were no big deal for me. So, it was no problem to unplug for a few seconds and it would be fine for a while. Same with streaming Pandora. Also, I can stream my iTunes from my computer as I have an optical cable running from it to the 2312. And, my BD player has Pandora, so there was always an alternative for me.

Actually, the Airstream issue being annoying has only been recent, because it is happening more often. First, it would just stop streaming once in a while, then more frequently. Lately I would not even be able to select the 2312 as playable speakers in iTunes as it was always grayed out, yet when looking at my network the 2312 was always listed as active.

However, since the update this afternoon it has been playing via Airstream just fine. But, the jury is still out on that without any confirmation what the update was designed to do, as well as it not having been long enough.

Considering I have read every page of this thread and have only read very few issues with NET/USB, I would have no problem ordering an XX12 now. Hell, I ordered a 3311 at the time they were having all sorts of network issues and everything turned out fine. However, the 3311 had just had an update at the time that was supposed to fix the issues, but I was sweating while updating it.
