I don't even bother with reading the flowery text of their reviews any more - just go straight to the bench test section at the end. It's a lot more clear what products are real value when you look at that data.

And pray that the advertisers have not been influencing them to fudge that too.

Try a different hdmi input on your Denon or another hdmi cable, Update or roll back your Radeon driver.

I'm not completely sure because I don't use linux and haven't had EDID issues with my HTPC, but I think the EDID overrides may be only for Windows.

Re-reading geearf's post though, the solution may be in there for his problem in Windows so NM and carry on.

Do you have one special part in mind?

I tried installing the inf for the EDID thing but no-go....

Since the same port and cable work with another OS (and worked with another receiver), I doubt that is the case :/

I tried with 2 different Catalyst:
an older 11.X, forgot which one and the latest 12.4 but same.

I didn't really follow, but it seems you have an idea

By the way, in safe mode it worked fine, and once rebooted without catalyst installed too.... Harsh.

Search in the HTPC Forum. I haven't had this issue so haven't had to address it. Others over there have and there are solutions available. If you don't find an answer after doing a search to see if there already a thread post your question there.

Denon is treating my 2112's NET/USB missing GUI as a hardware issue and they are replacing the HDMI board. Will this change my MAC address? If it does will I be able to update my radiodenon.com with the new MAC address?
Good question. I still haven't seen if I can migrate my RadioDenon from the MAC ID associated with my Denon ASD-3N iPod dock and internet streamer yet. If it does change the MAC ID for your AVR report back on migrating your RadioDenon account.
Unless the HDMI board also has the ethernet port on it, your MAC should not change.

I can tell you that I had simiar problem with my 3312/HTPC where my projector screen occationally turns to just a black blank screen. Not sure which one fixed the issue but the combination of different hdmi input on the 3312 and/or new $6 hdmi cable from Amazon did the trick- working flawlessly now. I also have the latest Catalyst suite installed.

Not 100% sure but I think they are on the same board.

I can't get it to the service center for about a week and they will have it for 2-3 weeks but I will report back and PM you the details.

I'm not too hopeful but fingers crossed the board replacement fixes the missing GUI.

Surprisingly the wife seems more bummed about not having "big sound" for TV and movie watching than I am.
Depending on the design, they might be able to copy the MAC address from the old board to the new one. You might try including a request to preserve the MAC address if at all possible.
I'll wait. Sorry for your troubles. In my AVR-889 the HDMI Board is the Digital Board which costs over $300. I'm willing to bet that a similar board is used in the 2212ci that has an ethernet NIC added to it. It is the main board so you'll probably have a new MAC ID.

Just wondering, this issue couldn't be resolved with the newest f/w update? How recent is it? Was this out of the box or come on later in life?

Woohoo - I jumped on the onecall price, as I'm starting to worry about stock levels. It might not be the primo- #1 deal, but it's close enough.

Anyone want a JVC 702B? LOL.

2112 - Pretty much upgrades everything over my current receiver.
Good deal!!

I think stock levels are created by the (r)etailers to create the need to buy now rather than next week or next month. That said I jumped on a 2312ci 2 weeks ago now.

I also got the 2112ci from OneCall, and very happy with it. They shipped FedEX Ground double-boxed, and went out from Washington on a Tuesday and arrived in Tennessee on a Saturday morning.

It took the good part of the day to remove my old system (Denon 3803 pre-HDMI! ), pull all the wires, re-program the Harmony, and set everything up -- but the process went pretty smooth. Alert your household they will be hearing Audyssey chirps for about 10-15 minutes minimum, and longer if you need to re-run the setup like I did (sub was too loud initially). A camera tripod is highly recommended, as the included mic has the screw-hole.

Also recommended is to read through batpig and jdsmoothie's great info in posts 1-3 of this thread a couple times - it will answer almost anything you will come across.

Good luck - I hope your experience with it is as fun and exciting, and you are as impressed with it as I am.

(I thought I posted this thread a few days ago, then it vanished... hopefully I'm not re-posting something that got moved to a different forum or something).

So I have an AVR-1912, and after some hassle, got it hooked up to my home network. So now I can listen to AirPlay on my iPhone, which works pretty well.

Then there's also this thing called DLNA which seems to allow music to be streamed from a laptop. But documentation on it seems to be sketchy and abstract... lots of "here's high level descriptions of how DLNA works", very little "hey, you want to actually play music files from your PC, here's how to do it". In particular, is there some way to just cause all PC audio to be redirected from the PC speakers through the Denon? Seems like that would be a useful and obvious feature.

In addition, my wife has an Android phone. Is there a way to get music from her phone to play through the Denon?

thanks!

well after over a month messing and tweaking with the 1712 ive settled on dynamic eq and dynamic volume both set to off unless very late at night. it just sounds richer and fuller with those two options turned off.

Well I owe you a BIG thanks.

I tried all the various HDMI ports of the receiver and Game 2 and AUX work fine (why?).
Of course out of Game 1 and Game 2 I had picked Game 1 to plug it in.... :/

If you have any idea why this works I'm still interested!

Thanks!

^^
Each of the HDMI input jacks has a different length signal path, which in some cases causes an issue with some components. This is why we always suggest to try each and every HDMI input when a device is having an issue on a particular one, as that may not be the case on one of the other HDMI inputs ... doesn't mean the original one is defective as it's very likely another device will work just fine on that same input.

Hmmmmm.

First thanks to Batpig and JD for so many contributions to this forum. I have my 2312 CI Cat 5 wired to my airport extreme router. I have done the latest firmware update. My Iphone is an Ip4 with the latest software. My problem is that I can use Airplay on the IP4 and it works great.( No more dropouts after I turned off the bluetooth, PIA to remember to turn it back on getting into the car). The next day, when I turn on the 2312 with the Denon IP4 remote app, or the Denon remote, I get the, " Airplay Speaker Not Available. In use by someone else, etc" error on my IP4. I tested my wife's IP4S and it gives the same error. It is NOT in use by anyone else. It seems the only way to get connected is to pull the plug on the 2312 and wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in. Airplay then connects. Sure sounds like a Denon firmware issue. Does anyone have a solution? thanks.
^^
When you are finished with the Airplay audio, try pressing the "Zone/Device Power Standby" button (ie. on the remote, bottom row to the right of the TV INPUT button ... circle with line through the top).

Glad it solves your problem. I believe i have my htpc connected to game 2 as well. I had it connected to dvd input and had the blank screen problem.

Yes you can, i have an android phone and i downloaded de imedia lite player, where you can play music from your andoird phone to your Denon. Also download the AVR remote for Denon/Marantz. You can control your Denon via remote by Phone.

Which AVR?

I have a 2312ci and my HTPC is connected to DVR without issue first try.. log in screen comes right up. At this point I haven't tested playback using MB/MPC-HC but I figure if I get to the login screen the EDID has made it's connection.
