Although "designed" to work, not confirmed with the 3312CI or 2312CI ...

Thank you.

I just placed an order for one of those.

Will report back in a couple of weeks as to whether or not it works properly with my Denon AVR-3312CI

Although adding a center speaker should definitely provide for better dialog quality, this is more likely an issue with the DTV box itself.

Another question. Leaving the Network Control function on all the time should increase my standby power consumption?

Correct, but only by about 2W according to the manual.

Hello everyone. I've just purchased my 1st receiver, Denon 1612.
Quick question: are loud 'mechanical' clicks upon putting the receiver to standby or shutdown normal?

So, let's say i use the AVr 5 hours a day, that would be 85W x 5 hours x 30 days = 12750 W which it would be what 12.75 Kwh a month right?

Pretty much all receivers do this.

Yes, these are just relays clicking on an off and as Ben notes are quite common with AVRs, so no worries. smile.gif

Correct ... in Orlando that would amount to about $1/month. smile.gif

Thanks, that would be about $2.00 here in Panama. I was worrying about nothing then,.

I have a question about setting crossover frequencies. I ran Audussey and then set my speakers to small, which changed from full band to 40Hz. I then manually set the speakers to 60Hz. My speakers are Paradigm Studio (CC-490 for the center, Studio 20's for LR, and Studio 10's for surround. I have a HSU-STF-2 subwoofer, which is set up correctly. Does the 60Hz setting seem correct or would you adjust it?

Also, my Dynamic Volume keeps turning off each time I switch HDMI input sources. Is there a way to leave this setting on until I decide to adjust it?

Thanks!
1. Either 60hz or 80hz is fine.
2. Dyn Vol and Dyn EQ are individual source settings, not global settings, so enable them for each source separately.

Nope ... nothing more than leaving an 80W light bulb on at night.

When it got to my center, it blew it cause it kept going higher. Ended up being a bad connection inside the umc-1 with the mic plug. Along with every other company, they only back their gear, but they were extremely nice and agreed to replace my center with what I requested.

As for the emo speaker, I really like it and I think it blends just fine with my klipsch.

Hi.

I have a Denon 1912.
After finding out that Denon does not upconvert/upscale. I wanted to put couple of preamps
those are
1. UMC-1
2. XPA-5 and XPA-2 (for 7 channels)

then I realized that 1912 does not have pre-outs. after reading your post it sounds like I can connect XPAs to UMC then connect UMC to 1912.

If you can map out how you connected all your devices that will help me out a lot.
(I am not even sure if I need line level converters)

thank you very much!!

^^
Considering that post you quoted was posted 8 months ago, you would be better served simply PMing the OP, although it's unlikely he connected the 1912 to the UMC-1.

Well crap, just got home and unboxed my 3312 and replaced all the wires/cables one for one from my 2312 that had been working find for weeks now, run the setup wizard on the 3312 and everything goes perfect until the Network setup part. It simply will not get an IP or say its connected to the network. I have tried unplugging it for 10+ minutes, network reset, microprocessor reset and trying to get it to connect via the setup wizard, network menu (exiting out of the setup wizard), and via firmware update with no changes. Anything else to try or is this unit going back?

ADD: Oddly enough in the Network Setup menu in the GUI, I am unable to go into the Network Connecting sub menu, nor under Other the Friendly Name Edit nor am I able to change the Network Standby setting or go into the Rhapsody Account or Napster Account menus. And Network Information only gives me the Friendly Name: DENON:[AVR-3312CI] and that DHCP is on and a blank IP Appress and MAC Address.

Ben,

Your symptoms are consistent with your router's dhcp server not providing an address. You should investigate the router's settings and internal logs, maybe reset it.

Will do, Ill play with that right now. I just dont get why it would be an issue being that I literally just unplugged the 2312 and swapped all the cables into the 3312. Ive added a bunch of components to that 8 port switch, in fact its been filled for some time and never had an issue. Ill play with resetting a few things and seeing what I can come up with. Thanks.

One other thing: How do I find out the MAC address for the 3312?
Yea there is def something not right going on with this unit. After power cycling the switches and the router the unit still wouldn't connect. Then I plugged it directly into the router with a different known working cable and still nothing even after trying both and microprocessor and network reset connected that way. The router doesn't even show it trying to connect. I'm thinking the network card in this unit is dead. I'm going to try and call Denon support just to say I tried, but I'm not expecting them to come up with anything I haven't tried. We'll see I guess.

Just got off the phone with Denon Support. They made all the same suggestions I found online and had already tried and couldnt come up with anything more. They concluded that the unit has to go back to Amazon, so back its going. Im having a new one overnighted and itll be here tomorrow. Gotta love Amazon's customer service!

System Setup -- Network Setup -- Network Information - Mac Address

Did you setup the router to allow only specific MAC addresses?

Okay, thanks. And nope, that was way too much of a hassle as I have literally dozens of wired devices. Its too big a pain to maintain that MAC address list.

Just became a proud owner of a brand new 3312 (got it for $590, that is only $12 more than a refurbished one from accessories4less). I'll be hoping to set it up this weekend. If I have issues I know where to turn to smile.gif

Ben,

I had a similar issue when I set up my 2312 last week. Try giving it a static IP address. Once you connect, it will perform a firmware update that corrects the problem.

I can't do that as there is no MAC address listed under the Network settings menu. The IP Address and MAC address fields are just blank. And I also can't get into the Network Connecting Menu in network setup to turn off DHCP and manually assign it an IP. It's seriously as though the unit doesn't see a network card and thus the GUI disables any and all network features.

3312ci - when you turn the unit on a new firmware available notice appears - update took ~ 30 min

Sigh. Would like to do just that, but alas I will have to wait till tomorrow when the new one comes.

Any idea what they changed? And are you sure its a new one? Were you up to date before? Can anyone else confirm they were indeed up to date and are seeing a new update too?
Yes this is a new update as I had the latest previous version.

I haven't seen anything yet on the update details.

These updates are often not listed or not listed on a timely basis. I checked the Denon site and they list upcoming firmware updates for 2011 & 2010!
