I like 2 channel stereo, but what about 5-channel stereo listening? I do not see any of these new Denons with that feature. 2112, 2312 or 3312. I have the 1911 and it does not have it. What am I missing?luojie

On my 3312ci it's called "multi-channel stereo" and is available by hitting the "Music" or "Movie" buttons when an appropriate source is playing.

All Denon AVRs have this feature to include your 1911 ... it is called "Multi CH Stereo". It is accessed by pressing the "SIMULATION" button on your 1911 remote. See p. 30 in your 1911 Owner's manual for more info.

I just received the updated firmware this morning for my 2112. Pandora is back! Took about 5-7min for the update. It's now showing 0007.

Sorry if this is in the thread somewhere but I have looked here and the manual and havent figured this out...

I am trying to stream from my PC to my TV. I want to do this through the Denon 2112 receiver so I can get the best sound from this connection instead of the sound from my laptop speakers.

My laptop has an HDMI jack.

Can I do this?
Stream audio or video?

I'm pretty sure you can since I've connected my Acer laptop via HDMI to my Denon 591 receiver and watch Netflix movies on it.

Have you actually tried it? Sounds like you already have the laptop and receiver. All you need is a HDMI cable.

Well, I guess Id like to stream both if possible, but its a video.

I took the HDMI out of my blu ray and plugged it into my laptop. Id like to watch NFL Sunday Ticket in HD via the laptop.

But when I do that the TV keeps saying "no signal detected".

When I plug the laptop into my TV directly via HDMI it automatically detects the TV and starts outputting.

But when I connect it to the receiver, nothing happens...

OK I will try to play around with those.

But theres nothing I need to do on the AVR in terms of settings? I should be able to take the HDMI, plug it in and have a picture on the TV without any specific settings (other than trying the things in the link you pasted?)
Correct. Although it's just another HDMI source, the video card may have some challenges to overcome.

You might just need to enable the secondary (Denon) display in screen resoloution settings on the PC when you connect the laptop to the Denon.

jus got a refurb 2312 from accessories4less - set it up - after about an hour of use the receiver started turning off an on every 4 or 5 seconds. Unhooked all speaker wires (all though they are banana connectors) - same thing. Unhooked all cable except power - same thing. Tired unplugging and microprocessor reset - same thing. Think I know why this unit was a refurb (and obviously not fixed....). Any other suggestions? I am guessing that this will be going back... Really liked the sound with the Audussy set up so a little bummed.... frown.gif

Unfortunately, just as a small % of new units get past QA, so is the case with the refurbished units as well. Exchange it for another unit.

grrr just tried to set up a ps3 slim to denon 1712 and panasonic viera st60.

using hdmi cable only. the screen kept blinking and i couldnt get the ps3 to show on my tv. i replaced the hdmi cable and that solved the problem. just another incidence where if anything is wrong just try a new cable FIRST.

now to my question.

i like bitstream because i can see what audio is being played. i saw in the ps3 gui only linear pcm and i checked all of them. but i see no bitstream.

so when i play a blu ray with ps3 it sounds great but the denon display says mult channel etc.

is there any way to get bitstream on the ps3 slim? i know this is minor but i do like to see what audio is being outputted on the denon.

PS3 - Video Setting – BD/DVD Audio Output (HDMI) – Bitstream

since itunes doesn't have .flac playback, what other software do people like that can network with the receiver? If I have to go back to using the PS3 with media server that's fine, just wondering if folks had better suggestion.

I just updated my 2112 finally after days of getting stuck at authenticating for days. Fired up Pandora and it seems I no longer have the skip, thumbs up, and thumbs down buttons/shortcuts. Anyone else that's updated seeing this?

Does it says "Internet Radio" at the top of the tv screen when this happens? There is a separate bug where Denon receivers are getting "confused" between Pandora and Internet Radio functions. You can still get it to work but the control interface is a bit wonky.

This is one of the major reasons I hate iTunes. Then, I found MediaMonkey. It has the ability tho play nearly any type of audio you can throw at it. As of its most recent beta (4.1.xxxx), it supports DLNA. I was streaming music from my MediaMonkey collection to my Denon AVR-3312ci just the other day.

There is a free version and a paid version. I bought it originally to sync music to my Android phone (as the free version will not transcode more than one song at a time). Now, they have just released an Android media app that will sync up your media/playlists over WiFi. That will most likely be a paid app as well, but I'm glad to pay it. MediaMonkey is worlds better than iTunes.

I know they have support to sync an iOS 5 device and I _think_ they can sync iOS 6 devices now too (not wirelessly). If you have more questions I'd be glad tho help as best I can.

I am having trouble using the Zone 2 function.

I have two speakers connected in another room to the Zone 2 terminals.

When I leave the receiver set on FRONT B and use these just as additional speakers from the main unit, music plays through them fine.

But if I switch these speakers to Zone 2, when I select to play through them I only get sound playing through 1 of the 2 bookshelf speakers connected.

Ideas?
Not sure what's up with the single speaker audio, but Zone 2 has some limitations ...

New (to me) 2312. Still learning my way around this unit, but had it configured well for my equipment (Oppo 93 player, old LG OTA tuner, Epson 8350 projector, 7+1 speakers / sub.)

2 days ago I was informed a firmware update was available, and I let it do it. Since then, I have trouble accessing the Menu - I can always go into the menu if I am listening to internet radio, but when one of my other 2 inputs is selected (player and TV tuner) the receiver ignores my button press for 'Menu'. Oddly though, pressing the 'Menu' button for my Harmony remote does get me into the menu but does not let me do much. This is driving me crazy - today I reset the 2312 and reconfigured from scratch, and it let me into the menu. At some point of configuration, though, it has again flaked out as far as getting into the AVR menu.

Any ideas? This is really driving me crazy, as this behavior started after the firmware update. Any way to go back to the last firmware version? Any suggestions at all?

Merry Christmas,

John F

Just fired it up to check on this.....lo and behold it is now functioning like normal. Must have been the bug?

After the update, Pandora will play for a while then stop.. kind of like the desktop version, where you have to hit a button to say "I'm still listening". It used to play indefinitely. Anyone else having this problem? Does it go away if I subscribe to Pandora One?

Thanks, I hate iTunes TBH so I'll give mediamonkey a shot, it was just easy to use itunes to do everything. I'll download it and let you know how it works out. Music listening is the main thing I have my system for so I really don't understand the iTunes playback limitations and I'm not going to take all those CDs out of storage and re-rip them into .wavs (could find a converter I guess).

I hope I wont run into this In Jan I plan on doing this.. but using a DVI to HDMI and using optical for sound... However at the time when I built the system it was not really going to be a HTPC system, so it does not have any digital audio built on the motherboard.. SO I have to get a external card but I don't know if this thing does Dolby digital or DTS but since it's for cable TV and maybe a bluray or two DTS support.

That device appears to connect to PC speakers rather than to an AVR.

Just a wild shot, but do you press the "AMP" button before pressing MENU?
