When I connect my ipod to the front usb panel and switch to net/usb mode it keeps showing connecting.....the ipod does not even power on which indicates that the ipod is not even getting power thru the usb port.
When I connect the avr to my adsl modem cum router using a network cable and switch to net/usb mode the same thing happens.
The net/usb menu does not even show up.
I have already tried resetting my avr micro processor and it has not resolved the issue.
Any help or advice wud be appreciated before I carry my avr to the service center

I'd try using another router before bringing it in for repair.

@huskie2000 -

The unit generally blinks green while it's powering up and then shows solid green. The solid red in Standby means you have either HDMI Control or Network Standby enabled.

Also note that if you purchased with a charge card, some charge card issuers will add an additional year to the 1 year refurb warranty (Amex will for sure as will some MC/VIsa).

Also blinks green when muted.

I have the 1912 and am having a strange audio issue with certain tv shows. Part of a show will be normal volume and then it will have another part in the same show that is almost too low to hear. The most extreme example is a few of my daughters shows on the disney channel..... the dialogue parts will be normal volume but whenever there is music or singing the volume of that part drops so low you can hardly hear it. This problem happens on some other shows to a lesser degree but still a very distinct drop in volume...American idol did it, we had to increase the volume substantially during singing parts vs the dialogue parts, although not as big a difference as the disney channel shows.

Any idea what setting on the 1912 might cause a problem like this? I am using the audysey calibration and most tv shows and all movies from various sources don't have this problem, It's just certain shows. The problem is not present on another tv in the house that just plays through the built in speakers on the same shows.

thanks for any help with this.

When the issue only involves certain TV shows, then the issue is more likely the result of how that particular station is broadcasting the audio. You may want to try setting Audyssey Dynamic Volume (p. 79 OM) to "DAY" or "EVENING" as well as setting the Reference Level Offset (p. 79 OM) to 10db.

I have tried the different dynamic volume settings but it didn't help with this issue...I'll give the level offset change a try though, what does that setting actually do?

It will reduce the bass/surround audio impact of Dyn EQ which especially for TV and music sources will help to improve center channel dialogue.

Well I doubt its got anything to do with the router. As I said am not even seeing the net/usb menu. It keeps showing 'connecting'. The behaviour is same when I have neither the ipod nor router connected. Would like to know if the same module or hardware component controls both the usb and network ports.I guess this component has failed.
P.s. I even tried the network reset as per the initial post. But to no avail.

hi there,
AIRPLAY issue: I have checked this forum and other sites and there are several posts about airplay, but i didnt find a similar problem or solution.

I have a denon 1912 and lately the airplay had been useless. It was working fine before and i have not done any firmware upgrades.
Now, when i play music via airplay, it plays with gaps. It will play for 10 sec and then a gap of 1-2 sec and starts again, Thus, airplay is almost useless.
Tried all settings and options, but nothing. I have Verizon FIOS abd use verizon router.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi SanchoPanza, just go a new Denon network receiver. Do you have a link for the Denon iPhone app?

If you go to the App Store and search for "Denon" it's the second hit after DeRemote:

Thanks batpig, downloading now.
Does this control the XX12 series now and is it available for android?
AFAIK, yes it should; however the Denon Android app only works with the XX13 and newer models, rather for Android on an XX12 model you'll want to try either AVR-Remote or AVRDroid both available on the Google app store.
I use AVR Remote. It works pretty well and controls the XX13 series too. I don't know why D+M cannot do this too. BTW, when I saw this posted I thought that maybe they had but I guess not.

You could also try upping the channel level a couple of db. Don't know your set up but upgrading the Center on my HT helped my constant volume adjusting.

Both the Denon & Marantz iPhone apps will control the 3311 & 3312, plus others listed in app description.
Right but not on android for whatever reason that is beyond me.

Hey everyone.Got a problem with my 1612 and Panny st60.When I turn systems on using my Harmony remote I get no sound unless I cycle the Denon receiver off .What's that about?I had no problem with audio on my LG panel. Thanks in advance.

You will probably have to adjust the order of devices powering on and/or the power on delay times in the Harmony software. Sometimes due to the silly nature of HDMI handshaking the handshake can fail to take properly if one device is powered on before the other.

You might want to break out the factory remotes for some manual testing. Try powering on the display first, wait a few seconds, and then power on the receiver. If you can find a methodology that works reliably and produces sound, then you can reprogram your Harmony remote to comply with that.

Another thing to check is the VieraLink HDMI-CEC setting on the TV, this kind of stuff can cause problems too.

Heyas!,

i'm a little confused about the different sound modes on my denon 1912. I see there are presets but personally i prefer manually setting up sound for watching movies but this obviously does not sound good when listening to music.

Can i set it up so i have one settings for movies and 1 setting for when playing music, mostly through airplay. My own settings?
Yup ... that is what the Quick Select buttons can be used to do. smile.gif
post #18237 of 18962
Yeah but how do i set settings for music, settings for movie so when i switch using those quick select my different settings are stored and im not using some sort of inbuilt preset?
Not sure what you mean by "my different settings"? One Quick Select would be DD PLII - Movie and another would be DD PLII - Music for the same single source. smile.gif

Thanks for all your replies!

Yes, it's me again, the abysmally tech-clueless, with a few more exciting questions for the beneficently (I hope!) tech-savvy. Please bear with me, and please forgive me for the cardinal sin of triple posting this, here, and in the "LCD Flat Panel Displays" forum, and in the "Networking, Media Servers & Content Streaming" forum. These questions concern the following components in my setup:

Denon AVR-3312CI
Panasonic Viera TV TC-L42E50
AirPort Extreme Base Station (0x168C, 0x9A)
Roku 3
Cisco Digital Cable Box RNG150N, HDMI out to the Denon
Comcast "Blast!" level bandwidth
27" iMac Mid-2011, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
My non-Cylon, v.1 brain, very limited capacity, prone to thermal shutdown during data overload, and with an extremely volatile short-term memory.

Point 1. My AirPort Extreme Base Station has only three ethernet outs, one of which goes to my iMac, one of which goes to my Roku 3, and the last of which goes to my Denon Av Receiver.

Point 1, question 1: My Panasonic Viera TC-L42E50 also has an ethernet IN port. Is the content available through the Viera framework (which I've been trying to understand with the "help" of Panasonic customer "support," but as many here can testify, Panasonic support is a very leaky vessel indeed, and the "answers" one gets are generally equal in usefulness to those from a Magic 8 Ball) worth setting up another ethernet router, connected to the AirPort Extreme Base Station, which I use as a very limited 3-out-port ethernet router and a WiFi point for my Kindles (both reader and 8.9" HD Fire) and my old knock-around G4 iBooks?

Point 1, question 2: CAN another ethernet-only hub be connected to one of the ethernet outs of the AirPort Extreme Base Station?

Point 1, question 3: If NOT, I would greatly appreciate anyone's suggestions for an 802.11n wireless N + gigabit ethernet router with more than 3 available ethernet outs -- enough ports to serve the iMac, the Denon, the Roku 3, and the Panasonic Viera TV.

NB: I mostly stream stuff from Amazon Prime through the AirPort Extreme Base Station, and from there by ethernet to the Roku 3, and have VERY few glitches, other than a bit of slow-loading at peak usage times. Once a video loads, it plays without a hitch, and I NEVER pay for the HD version -- the Denon up-converts video that is indistinguishable to my old eyes from the HD shows, HDTV or high-quality DVDs. Blu-Ray is a slight improvement, but not much.

Point 2, question 1: The nearly 160-page pdf Denon AVR-3312CI manual SEEMS to say that I can show photos, and play audio and video that's on my iMac through the Denon, and thus to the Panasonic Viera TV and through my more-or-less 5.1 speaker setup. Is this correct?

Point 2, question 2: If that's NOT correct, can someone tell me how I can get my own content from the iMac to the Denon, please?

I was going to ask about the URC-WR7 Pre-Programmed and Learning Universal Remote and why I can't understand which buttons DON'T turn my Panasonic display to analog snow, but that's more of a metaphysical question. When I asked Denon "customer support" -- even worse than Panasonic's by several orders of magnitude -- why I was seeing snow noise, which is not possible from a digital input, I learned later that evening from my son-in-law, the Denon rep said "Oh, just box up the Denon and FedEx or bring it to our Bridgeport repair facility for service, for which we'll charge you $40-$50 or so, PLUS the return shipping" by FedEx of the nearly 40-pound Denon back to my home. While the prospect of enjoying the Russian roulette of I-95 and the exotic sights and smells -- especially the smells -- of Bridgeport were all deliciously enticing to contemplate, the 120+ mile round trip was not. So I called my son-in-law in Kansas City that night, and he solved the problem in under 20 seconds -- told me I'd hit the wrong input button (the one marked "TV" on the Denon remote), and briskly walked me through the 2 or 3 step process on the Denon's set-up menu to get back to SAT/CBL where I needed to be.

Maybe I'd get more done around here if I hadn't got it up again (and again -- I did the same stupid thing last week, but managed to dither my way back to Denon nominal): I stayed up till 3:00 this morning re-watching the last 6 episodes of "Battlestar Galactica"

Hope someone can help me with my questions.

Thanks in advance!

Apologies if i'm not making sense, i just had a play with the remote and what i'm referring to is "Channel level" Does it make sense now? so yeah i keep having to change how i like it between movies and listening to music. Can that be setup so when i switch between inputs my settings are saved?
